Meg had called "a close friend, a member of her extended family" to pay for an immigration lawyer to help her (the housekeeper) with her issue and the reporter pointed out Whitman had the means to do so.

It was an excellent question and Whitman looked very foolish on her answer which was, in essence 'at the time, you make the decisions you do, blah blah blah'.

She also made a point of saying she needed to wrap things up because she had an interview scheduled with Telemundo, which was probably her way of saying "But seriously...I love the Mexicans."

She's not going anywhere in California without the Hispanic vote, and she knows it. She's trying to straddle the fence between the GOP "base" and everyone else on immigration and it's just impossible. Constantly carping about the need for a "guest worker program" isn't going to do it, no matter how many more of her millions she spends to buy her way into office.
