QUITO, Ecuador — Ecuador soldiers rushed a hospital where the nation's president was holed up.
The hospital was surrounded earlier in the day by rebellious police.
The police were angered by a law that cuts their benefits plunged this small South American nation into chaos Thursday, roughing up the president, shutting down airports and blocking highways in a nationwide strike.
