Ecuador seems way more complicated than a coup
Looks like the President, like most of the elites who rules these days) sided with the IMF for another wicked anti-people austerity programme.

People are not going to take a reduction in benefits sitting down - not when prices continue to rise.

What is striking about this one is that he went to explain to the police why he was cutting their benefits. He's lucky that the army were on his side.

Sure was chaos in Quito. Not sure his defenders died for democracy - they died for IMF policies.

I hate coups but I also hate these IMF austerity measures. Why should ordinary people pay for the recklessness of banks, lending agencies, elites and governments.
