Who's funding governor candidates?

An Enquirer analysis of campaign contributions found Gov. Ted Strickland, a Democrat, got more than $500,000 through August in direct contributions from organized labor unions representing a variety of workers from plumbers and carpenters to firefighters and teachers. A new campaign finance report detailing contributions from September is due Tuesday. Republican challenger John Kasich's largest blocks of contributions come from investment and insurance firms followed by electric utilities.

Recent polls have shown the governor's race neck and neck in a year in which other Republicans are surging. One reason: Through Aug. 31, Gov. Ted Strickland had raised $13.2 million to Republican John Kasich's $12 million.

Unions gave Strickland his largest block of special interest money. The half-million-dollar total given by unions does not include independent expenditures by political action committees such as the Campaign for a Moderate Majority.

That PAC, comprised of unions, raised about $400,000 through July 30 for its www.ComeCleanKasich.com campaign. They've sent a "video van" around the state, including Cincinnati, which blasts Kasich's time on Wall Street.

Kasich spokesman Rob Nichols pointed out that Strickland raised $1.5 million from Wall Street and the financial industry including at least $25,000 from members of the Lehman family.

The unions worry a Kasich win could mean state job cuts, or cuts in aid to workers who rely on government funding.

The Service Employees International Union offered up Kay Bishop of Westwood, a nurse's assistant at Harrison Pavilion, which gives long-term care to 84 people. "If we don't keep Gov. Strickland, we are all in for a state of shock in the state,'' she said.

I pray that Gov. Strickland is re-elected! We sure don't need Kasich, ex-Fox boy, to get a hold of our State!

We really NEED Strickland to stay in the Gov's mansion.
There is a Socialist, Daniel H. LaBotz that is on the Ohio ballot for senator.
Its very tempting considering Portman is so far ahead of Fisher in the race.Hmmmmmmm What to do.
