Ok. Bill Mahr convinced me.
When it comes to voting -- when we only have two choices --
You gotta grow up and realize there's a big difference
between a disappointing friend and a deadly enemy.

--end of story--

consider them deadly enemies. Too concerned about their own reelection...YES. But deadly enemies? NO!

11. Apparently they do not oppose the equal treatment of your
community. They do mine. That makes them deadly enemies to me, for if they get their way, my loved ones suffer. Comprehend? Shout NO all you want to. They stand with Palin. I do not.

27. It's despicable
And it makes it hard for me to vote for them too, but my hope is that by doing so, I will help move the country left just a little bit (at least on other issues) so that maybe next time around, I'll have the choice of someone who really understand what equal rights for all means.

Moving the country to the right isn't going to accomplish that.

But I totally understand why someone could not bring themselves to vote for such a "Democrat". It's shameful that it's even an issue in 2010.

Edited on Sat Oct-02-10 08:42 AM by DemocraticPilgrim
big stubborn elephants.. I mean sure enough Bush gave the impression it's like a dictatorship where one side gets all their own way, but it's not. If Pres. Obama did have it all his own way he'd lose respect of moderates and lose grips of power, as the GOP did when the haze of induced high octane fear had gone. He held on to Blanche to demonstrate a party of balance that accomodates the middle and as hard work as she is if people really thought it through they'd elect her, yes a nightmare but some are worth living through.

9. I have a difficult time understanding the "won't vote Dem" crowd on this board
By any objective measure this President and congress have been the most progressive since the 70's and they have done this in an era where the opposition party simply seeks to obstruct them at all costs. The Republican obstruction is the single largest factor in blocking passage of more liberal policies, yet many denizens of this message board think it's a good idea to reward this obstructionism with a return to power.

This "punish the dems" POV is not only downright stupid but also irresponsible and dangerous as we will be trading a Democratic majority that attempts to reach consensus and uses facts as the basis of policymaking with a Republican one which is highly dogmatic and who's membership oppose HCR, think women are second class citizens, want to outlaw abortion even in cases of rape and incest, hate gays (and I mean REALLY hate), etc...

Truth be told I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the punish the Dems crowd on this board aren't Repuke activist blogger trying to sow dissension, because although criticizing Dems for not being progressive enough is warranted, implying that we shouldn't vote for or support maintaining a Democratic majority is just downright EVIL.

And this is what you get for your "not votin Dem cuz they don't do everything we like":

18. Thats a good one
so STFU and vote Dem, but only if you value having a group of rational people at the levers of government. If you are ok with having a bunch of Angles, Demints and Boehners running the show by all means sit it out.

Let me reiterate, using your words: STFU and vote D or sit home and enjoy the Rs taking you and your country back to the turn of last century.

Bright side, if you aren't a woman, gay, black, hispanic, muslim, student, child, make in excess of 250k annually or a retiree, Republican rule will be great for you so by all means have at it.

38. It is nonsense but it is what it is at this time in our lives.
We must deal with it and all agree that the Republicans are our enemies and their goal in life is to destroy America and people like us.

We may not agree with each other on everything but in the end we should have one singular goal, understand who our enemy is and that is the RepublicanTeaParty faction of this country and destroy them.

Are there Democratic members that we don't like? You are damn right there are so let's work to replace them with progessive agressive candidates in 2012. 2010 we need to retain our seats and gain some if we can.

How long before the disappointing friend becomes the deadly enemy????

End the wars! Health-care for all!! Feed the hungry!! End DADT! ETC., ETC., ETC.

Our side is a lot more than JUST a disappointing friend, they are acting like the deadly enemy lite! jmho
