What should the U.S. do about bin Laden?
The latest is that the U.S. suspects the nine eleven perp is alive and in Pakistan where we are currently killing people. They say he is there still and stirring up trouble and planning terrorist attacks.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT THIS MAN?

I have not stated my opinion, I want to hear yours.

2. What we've been doing. NOTHING. This is just bullshit to wage war on Pakistan.
Bin Laden had nothing to do with 9-11. We haven't been trying to capture him, anyway. Do we have a warrant for his arrest? And if so, based on what?

But we're getting our war on with Pakistan and need to justify those drones and strikes that kill civilians.

Bin Laden may be dead. But war LIVES.

I'd like to pretend that nine eleven didn't have to happen, but that'd be the truth, and fairy tales are more fun than facts.

4. Invade Pakistan.
Invade Yemen

Throw tens of thousands of additional troops into Afghanistan. (Scratch that, already done.)

Wiretap every internet message with the word "bin", in any alphabet.

Launch hundreds of drones at any terrorist-inspired twitch.

Defend these actions at every turn.

I mean come on...this is public enemy numero uno right? Our government DOES NOT ACT like they are after the man who supposedly did nine eleven. I'd also like to see definitive proof of THAT, but that's a whole other nasty, unspeakable story.

I borrowed one for three days, but I really didn't need it after that. And I took My bones with me when I went home to Heaven.

Unlike Osama who did not rise again after his death, no matter what the CIA fake video production unit tells you.

14. The CIA likely knows if he is alive or not.
It's also possible that their information is not direct, that bin Laden is crafty enough to give just about anybody the slip, especially in regions of the world where Western presence has been iffy.

19. The whole topic has been so polarized
that nobody can even have a sane discussion about it.

Look at the Benazir Bhutto interview with David Frost in the embedded video on this page.

Two weeks after Ms. Bhutto arrived back in Pakistan, Sir David Frost interviewed her. She spoke about the attempt on her life that marred her homecoming in which 158 people lost their lives. She speaks of a letter to be sent to Mr. Musharraf in the event of her death in which she claims 3 individuals might have financed and planned such an act, one of whom is a "key figure within security" in the Government, who amongst others that he has had dealings with, has had dealings with Omar Sheikh, the man who "murdered Osama Bin Laden." (6 minutes 10 seconds into the video).

If he's dead, find out how and where and the body if possible.

We can do detective work on it.

If he's alive, just find him. quit bombing people in general and just look for him.

26. Release all records of US intel and business involvements with OBL & friends dating back to 1980s.
That should serve to demystify a lot of things, both here and among his following.

Subject all supposed Bin Ladin video and audio released since 9/11 to a rigorous scientific assessment to determine which if any of them are actually him.

Issue a US civilian criminal court indictment of OBL in abstentia for the mass murder of September 11th, along with indictments of the Guantanamo prisoners said to have organized 9/11. Hold the trial.

Get out of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Declare that the US will no longer intervene militarily in the Middle East.

Take $300 billion dollars a year out of the Pentagon budget and put it into the development of clean energy in the United States.

Somehow I think I'm missing what you want to hear. Let me guess: Find a reason to keep fucking up shit in Afghanistan and Pakistan?

31. Let's say he's alive - at what point do we stop hurting ourselves, lashing out at him?
and at the countries surrounding the spot where he was last seen?

We've done vastly more damage to ourselves in prosecuting this futile Holy War than the terror attacks of 9/11 did to us. Mohammed Atta's paymasters in the Pakistani ISI are still there, despite our flailings (we actually call them our allies, since circumstances have obliged us to). OBL is presumed dead. But, meanwhile, in our continued lashing out at his ghost and anyone who reminds us of him, Pakistan has been driven to the verge of collapse and revolt. Yet, if OBL were alive and if it were somehow possible for OBL and Barack Obama to run for office in Pakistan, OBL would defeat our man with a margin of 80% plus. People in the region blame us, not OBL, for the misery that rains down on them. Afghanistan is a failed state, once more, and has never been in our control. We've been there almost ten years and our Generals and their puppet politicians speak as if we just started fighting there and should expect to be fighting there at least another decade more. It is not a democracy and has never produced more heroin than it does today. The United States has been turned into a virtual police state at perpetual war with outside enemies and is increasingly paranoid about internal "subversion" ranging from emigré jihadis to those despicable peace activists. We have sown unimaginable destruction in Iraq and delivered that country into the Iranian Revolution's sphere of influence. The failure of policy is so absolute, our "leaders" can only imagine redeeming it by overturning the government of Iran: the unintended consequences of one insane policy just seems to call forth another even crazier policy from Washington. Pakistan now appears to be close to some kind of collapse of democratically legitimate rule, although it seems unlikely that the military will seize civil government outright, since it can manipulate weakened civilian leaders from the shadows. Overall the damage this 10 year "hunt for OBL/Al-Qaida" has wreaked upon our interests is many orders of magnitudes greater than any he caused or could cause to us.

We've spent trillions of dollars and have nothing, nothing but a collapsed economy and a torched Constitution, and a world in flames to show for it. For a world power clearly on its way down, we have even now a shocking readiness to make millions of new enemies around the globe. But don't call us arrogant or stupid, Oh Noes!
