About the ads that are being put into our posts:
I got a bit honked off when I first saw them, maybe because it was a surprise (though there may have been an announcement that I missed, because I don't pay attention very well).

Now that I've given it some thought, here is my conclusion: While DU is a pleasant diversion / eater of time for us members, it's a business for the admins; they depend on the revenue from DU to feed their families. I think that we members lose sight of that most, if not all of the time. So the ads are OK with me.

(Though I still resent the fact that I get ads when I get my e-mail. Given that I actually PAY every month for AT&T to be my ISP, and they have the deal with Yahoo for me to get my mail, I don't think I should have to live with the ads the same as the people who have free Yahoo mail accounts do.)

1. What ads?
Says the smug poster who conned someone into giving him a donor star.

2. I'm completely oblivious to ads on DU.
I never even look at them. When people post about them, I never know what they're talking about, because I don't ever see them.

I agree with your point, however. The place has costs, and ads pay costs. I don't care who DU sells ad space to, as long as the admins are happy with the revenue stream.

10. Neither have I. Duplicates quite often, but one always immediately
follows the other.

Just looked strange, and my confusion index is lower than it once was.

5. I make a small monthly donation
and use Firefox as a browser, and never see any sort of ad on DU.

A few years back, working a part-time, minimum-wage job, which was the only job I could find, I could not have afforded to donate to DU -- which was okay, then, because I couldn't afford internet access or a computer then either.

:) . . . I'm always unpleasantly surprised when people mention the ads on DU.
