The One Nation rally gave me great hope and made me proud! |
|
Unlike BecKKKs gathering (lovingly and aptly renamed "Whitestock" by some witty DUer) the One Nation rally was celebration of the diversity that is America! People of all races, genders, religions, and ages coming together. Calling for unity and oferring to stand shoulder to shoulder working to rebuild America as an economic powerhouse where every child has equal opportunities, where all people are fairly paid for their labour, and where truth, honor, and dignity reign supreme.

And the contrast between the rage of the Bekkk crowd and the joy of the One Nation crowd was notable. No nasty signs and t-shirts, no furious rhetoric -- just a cohesive gathering of diverse people with a common message of hope, striving towards justice, equality and peace. Encouraging.

Just got back home, the long bus ride was worth it. I was move yesterday, I know what I saw and how it made me feel. It was as if the hands of time were turned back. I was living in the America my parents told me about. The crowd was huge and I walked for miles, just taking it all in. Every one was friendly, there was no hate. People expressed their views with no fear of retaliation. Freedom of speech needs to be protected, Even when you disagree, there is no room for hate in the America I love.

I was working so stood in one spot all day (bad sunburn this morning)... I was interacting with the people constantly so didn't differentiate between speakers- all were great! Don't know which speaker suggested we do it, but when we looked to our right and left (just like the "peace be with you" at church) and let that person know he/she was my fellow American... it was explosive for me... I was hugged and we laughed and rejoiced... yes, we are all Americans and we want to make it good for all of us!

wanted to be there but couldn't pull it off. Streamed much of it at home and listened online. Think I would have been a blubbering mess if I'd been there - this stuff really gets to me! Glad to hear it was as genuine and positive at it looked from afar! Thanks for going and showing up for those of us who couldn't make it. And glad it made it through to all the major news media. They're still writing about it today! Go progressives! Glad to be one of you....
