Rand Paul: Social Security age may need to be raised
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul says the age of eligibility for Social Security and Medicare may need to be raised for future recipients.

But Paul, speaking during a televised debate Sunday on FOX News, says he doesn't want to change those benefits for older people already receiving them.

The debate is the first of the general election season between Paul, a Republican, and Jack Conway, a Democrat.

Major issues of the race thus far have revolved around spending and taxes.

Paul has become a favorite of the tea party with his positions on smaller government and a balanced budget. Conway has also appealed to tea partiers, describing himself as a fiscally responsible Democrat who understands why voters are frustrated about rising federal spending.

6. I think Paul has floundered on both deficit reduction and KY's drug problems.

Conway has his stuff together.

Hope others can watch.

8. Raised to what?
I already have to work until age 70 to qualify for full benefits. How much more are Republicans proposing to raise it? Plus there are no guarantees that employers in our society are going to employ older people.

It is very telling that the people who propose the destruction of our societal safety nets are vying for jobs that will give them lifetime pensions.
