Howard Arenstein ARRESTED: Marijuana Charges For CBS
WASHINGTON — CBS Radio News correspondent Howard Arenstein has been arrested on marijuana charges in Washington.

D.C. police spokesman Lt. Nicholas Breul said Arenstein and his wife were arrested early Saturday and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Breul says vice units had received a complaint of marijuana growing in the couple's backyard. Police then obtained a search warrant for the home in northwest D.C.

Breul says officers found large, mature cannabis plants, standing more than 8 feet high. In addition, they found packaged marijuana inside the home.

When will this insanity end?

1. I think mj laws should be abolished. That said, the Arensteins had incredible balls to grow in their
DC backyard!

my only arrest for anything in my life. I've proudly been a maryjane felon since then.

6. Agreed
There is more to this story. Perhaps he made enemies or some colleague had the knives out for him. And if I was his employer I would just leave him at work until and if he is convicted of a crime It has nothing to do with his work performance

5. This may be a dumb question, but what does the hight of the plants
have to do with anything?

8. Nothing
Other than visibility by other people looking into the yard and that the plant was probably ready for harvest with lots of bud. And to think we here in CA will soon be able to legally grow as many plants as we can in 5x5 foot patch in our own yards.

14. Even when grown inside, the height of the plants is mentioned like
it must mean something. I have to assume then that when the prosecution mentions how tall the plants were he is implying that tall plants mean potent plants which is then somehow more damaging.

11. I don't know if medical bud is legal there
But if not then he might not have wanted to buy off the street. Would you? Out west everyone and I mean everyone knows someone with a medical card so those folks just get a little extra for their recreational friends.

15. It's legal.
Or at least the city council has voted to make it so.

16. Not off the street but a connection, most who smoke have one.
Do they let you grow with a medical card?
