I just watched a delightful presentation of CSpan's BookTv. British-born biographer of some great American figures talked about his new book, "The Twelve Ceasars".
Biographer Nigel Hamilton profiles the twelve American presidents since World War II. Using the Roman historical text, The Twelve Caesars, as his model, the author recalls each president's path to the presidency, their domestic and foreign policy decisions while in office, and their leadership on the international stage. Nigel Hamilton discusses his book at Porter Square Bookstore in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He talked about FDR, Eisenhower, Nixon and Bill Clinton, with quite a lot of additional comments added in about those and other presidents. He's a charming speaker, a true lefty and, with all the ugliness going on in the world, this felt like a delightful respite.
Give it a watch online and give your heart a lift - it's worth it!
