Moore donates $12,000 for anti-Michael Moore blogger's healthcare bills
And that's reportedly what his new film, Sicko, closes with.

1. That site says nothing of the sort. What on earth led you to claim that
Edited on Sat May-19-07 09:31 PM by ConsAreLiars
"that's reportedly what his new film, Sicko, closes with" -- a reference to a donation that was anonymous until the recipient traced it down and then made public that it came from Moore.

Either I can't read, or you are making things up. Which is it?

2. Follow the links.
From the Salon article:

Moore's last revelation in "Sicko" is sure to be endlessly debated in the right-wing blogosphere that is so obsessed with him...

Echoed by the title of the entry at Moorewatch.com:

I close the film?

6. You take a right-wingers's paranoia as fact?
"I close the film?"

Maybe you are trying to claim the "Sicko" label for yourself. Evidence????

While I find the timing...interesting...he did in fact call and was completely normal and gracious about it. You can hear for yourself.

Moore’s voicemail to JimK (MP3, 905.7K)

Thank you, Michael. I appreciate the help and I always have. You know that, of course, because I posted right here on the site that I was grateful to the guardian angel long before this became an issue for the press to feed on. I hope that your Cannes screening goes well, but more importantly I hope you’ve used your power to tell the truth this time. I’d love to support this movie, as I’m no friend of the HMO.

In case anyone doubts it, that’s definitely him. Even if I didn’t recognize the voice, he used phrasing that was identical to the original emails I got from the third party. This also puts to rest the doubts I’ve seen all over the ‘net that it was even Mike in the first place. Now we all know.

Man...what is in that film? Am I crazy or did he sound...nervous? I guess we’ll all find out why he did this when the film shows tonight at Cannes.

14. The OP claimed that this was part of the film.
Edited on Sun May-20-07 12:18 AM by ConsAreLiars
The fact that the nutcase recipient claims it came from Moore and (typically) goes all whiney and plays victim is not in dispute. That is well established by his own rantings.

go to the link and read the post at the top of the page that says "I close the film?"
"Really? Me? In a film about the difference between forcibly taking money from all to pay for some and how that works around the world, *I* am the best thing he could find to close the movie? "

i also sent you a link to sydney morning herald as well

what are you shooting the messenger for?

19. Well, we shall soon see the facts of the matter.
A freeper nutcase is not an adequate source for me, although it might be sufficient for you.

That was your best attempt to present some facts in support of your (and the freeper's) claims? Color me unimpressed.

24. color me totally unimpressed that you can't be bothered to read
the other post i gave you, the one with the newspaper link (or do you consider all newspapers "freepers" too?)

color me unimpressed that you are on some type of "everyone is out to get michael moore but me" deal

color me unimpressed that you're picking fights because...who the hell knows?...you had a bad day?

and color me unimpressed that you aren't the only michael moore fan on this message board.

25. You realize by now, I hope, that the claim that MM used that donation
as a "closer" in his film was a lie, and that you bought into that right wing BS and swallowed it whole. Color me worse than unimpressed with your defense of that lie.

8. this is in the sydney morning herald
"The film includes what Moore hopes is an example of generosity of spirit. When the director found out the Moore-bashing website moorewatch.com would have to close because webmaster Jim Kenefick needed money to pay his sick wife's medical bills, he sent a cheque for $US12,000 ($14,600).

"Moore said he planned to call Kenefick today before the film's evening premiere to identify himself as the benefactor. But Kenefick, tipped off by media reports, appeared unimpressed.

""He paid $US12,000 so that you, the press, would focus on what a 'nice guy' he is and, in the same breath, make me look like a jerk," Kenefick wrote on the site - which is still running.

17. I read the same thing in lots of news articles about the movie opening today.
also that the owner of the site, moorewatch.com, when told who the anonomous donor was he wasn't happy.

Here's a link to a whole slew of googled articles: http://news.google.com/news?tab=wn&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=%2412%2C000+Michael+moore&btnG=Search

10. He didn't HAVE to send ANYTHING! What's you're problem?
I have no idea if the story is true or not, but IF it is, and the word to Moore was that the guy needed $12,000 and that's what he sent, why do you have a problem with that? I would think most people would send NOTHING to someone in the direct opposition to him!

11. It's $12,000 more than any "compassionate conservative" ever sent.
But I'm sure Kenefick's future article on just how great the U.S. healthcare system really is should be craptacular!

23. The $12,000 paid the premiums on insurance so the
guy's wife could get treatment. The guy is whining about being used, but I haven't seen him make an offer to return the $12,000.

His whole site is totally against Moore, but he had no problems whatsoever taking his money. Typical freeptard behavior.

I am crying too. Not.

This is an infomercial. I spent 12k and all I got was this lousy treatment by the right wing.

Please, it looks disingenuous at BEST.

20. Sure, if Kenefick had in fact turned the money down.
Or at least offered to pay it back. But he didn't.

That Kenefick kept that donation even though in doing so violated any sort of conservative "ethics" he might have, helps prove Moore's point on the decay of our healthcare system even more so than his film ever could.
