BAGHDAD - Eight more American troops were killed In Iraq, seven of them on a single day, the US military said on Saturday, amid raging violence and a desperate search for three captured soldiers.

Three US soldiers were killed Friday when their vehicle was bit by a bomb northeast of Baghdad, and two more in an ambush inside the city in which a gunmen opened fire on a patrol already hit by a roadside booby-trap

Another soldier died in combat in western Iraq, one was shot dead while on foot patrol in Baghdad and the eighth was killed on Saturday by a roadside bomb south of the capital that wounded two US and two Iraqi troops.

2. damn, what a lazy reporter
didn't find out anything so just printed the name and basically 'I don't know shit about this guy"

dammit, the DoD does not release names until they notify next of kin. So there was SOMEONE to notify. This reporter could have got off his ass and found some facts before running this lame notice. In all the articles I've read, and it is hundreds, this is the LAMEST POS I have seen. If they don't know much, they just say we'll get more info - not a whiney diatribe about what they don't know.

I suppose he had a deadline...

3. and indeed there were
the 19th went from 1 to 8, bringing the total for Iraq for the month to 71. That projects to 116 for the month, if you assume the MIAs will be recovered alive.
