Rahm's run for mayor may be in violation of election laws |
which state that any candidate must live there for at least one year prior to running. I just heard this on a Colorado radio station news at the top of the hour. Dont know if it's true or not.

2. He would have never given up his home address and home voting |
right...
DC is a transitate town. People live and work there but still retain residency status at home.

7. Indeed - considering most members of the House and Senate don't "live" within driving |
distance of DC they have to maintain residences elsewhere - i.e., in the places they lived before they were elected/appointed.

3. Aren't people like government workers technically residents of their homes? |
Even if they live most of the time somewhere else? Obama is still as much of a Chicagoan now as he was in 2008.

4. Some people must think that Rahm didn't think about this |
I know people have mixed feelings about him but I'm fairly certain that he wouldn't have given up his job as Chief-of-staff to President Obama and then move back to Chicago and announce his run for mayor without making sure that it was legal for him to do so, right?

8. Rahm rented out his home to another through an agency. Yep, he |
Edited on Mon Oct-04-10 12:52 PM by Bold Lib
kept his voter registration at that residence that he rented out. The guy renting the house also is registered to vote using that residence. This could be a big problem and will depend on the fine print of Illinois election/voting laws. If Rahm is disqualified because someone else is renting his residence then not only is Rahm not a resident he may have cast illegal votes as a disqualified resident. The devil will be in the details.
