Apostle: Same-sex attraction can change

Same-sex attraction can be overcome and any type of union other than marriage between a man and a woman is morally wrong, an LDS apostle told millions of Mormons on Sunday.

“There are those today who not only tolerate but advocate voting to change laws that would legalize immorality, as if a vote would somehow alter the designs of God’s laws and nature,” Boyd K. Packer, president of the church’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles, said in a strongly worded sermon about the dangers of pornography and same-sex marriage. “A law against nature would be impossible to enforce. Do you think a vote to repeal the law of gravity would do any good?”

And front page on the local paper on our doorstep this morning.

Stupid, bigoted, uninformed, isolated old mormon men with the ear of 12M people....their masses, who rarely have an individual thought. Most have come to expect that they must be spoon fed personal opinion and god's word of hate.

I guess this mean BYU may re-establish their aversion shock therapy?

2. Why haven't these stupid bigots lost their tax exempt status yet?
Their relentless Prop 8 campaigning was bad enough... :argh:

4. Given the heading on the news article "Apostle: Same-sex attraction can change "
I find it very ironic that this one liner appears in the body of the text:

“We cannot change; we will not change,” the senior apostle declared.

yet...for those mormons that have dealt with the overwhelming failures for attempting to turn gay into straight...they understand that 'change' isn't realistic of attainable. “If you are faithful, on resurrection morning — and maybe even before then — you will rise with normal attractions for the opposite sex.”

un-fucking-believable.
