Kakistocracy!

Thanks to Cerridwen for enlightening me as to the existence of this word.

"Kakistocracy" is an actual word meaning "government by the incompetent and corrupt."

Excellent word. Derives from the Greek Kakos (bad) Kakistos (worst)

I am willing to bet that the slang term kaka comes from kakos. So not only is it in the literal "rule by the worst," it also means

"shitty rule" or
"rule by shithead"

it's the other way around. That word caca has been around a long, long time as what's called a "nursery word", like mama, papa, etc.

There's a Latin verb cacare 'to take a dump'. But it was the Greeks who took the word to its logical conclusion if one starts with the assumption that bad things are, by defintion, crappy. And who would disagree?

But your point, that kakistocracy amounts to "rule by the shittiest" is spot on. And that is indeed what we're stuck with here.
