World's dumbest hate crime committers gay-bash at Stonewall Inn

Yes, that Stonewall Inn.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/05/nyregion/05stonewall.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss

In the Stonewall case, Matthew Francis, 21, and Christopher Orlando, 17, both of Staten Island, were arrested. Mr. Francis was charged with assault and attempted robbery as a hate crime at his arraignment on Monday in Manhattan Criminal Court. One man, Andrew Jackson, 20, has been arrested so far in the Chelsea attack; he was charged with multiple counts of assault as a hate crime. . . .

The victim in the attack at the Stonewall on Sunday was using the restroom when Mr. Francis, at the urinal next to him, asked him what kind of bar it was, Kiran Singh, an assistant district attorney, said in court. The man told Mr. Francis it was a gay bar, Ms. Singh said, to which Mr. Francis responded with a slur.

Mr. Francis demanded $20, Ms. Singh said, before he and Mr. Orlando pushed the man to the ground. Mr. Orlando held the man while Mr. Francis punched him, Ms. Singh said.

Mr. Francis and Mr. Orlando ran from the bar, Ms. Singh said, and some of the patrons chased them until the two men were caught by police officers. Mr. Francis’s lawyer, Angel Soto, said in court that his client was not the aggressor. “There may have been a fight, but it certainly was not a hate crime,” Mr. Soto said.

A couple of S.I. punks were either so stupid that (1) they didn't know the Stonewall was a gay bar or (2) thought they could get away with it thinking that the patrons (many of whom lift weights on a daily basis) wouldn't respond accordingly. They're lucky the cops got a hold of them first.

3. Or, perhaps, there are very much in denial, they wanted to be in a gay bar, but the only way ...
they could psychologically cross that threshold was with an agreement between them to beat someone up. Who knows at this point. In any case, this kind of self-hating crime would still be a hate crime.

12. So you're saying that New Yorkers lift weights on a daily basis?
I live in NY. There's a lot of people that go to the gym and even more that don't. From the ones that do, many run and don't lift weights. I think you're stereotyping a bit.

9. Here's one of the geniuses

Matthew Francis

“We don’t like gay bars, and we don’t piss next to f—-ts,” Francis told the victim before he and Orlando began punching him and demanding money, a law enforcement source said.
