AMBER ALERT!!!!
http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/10/05/california.child.taken/index.htm

An eight-year-old Hispanic girl was abducted last night from her front yard in Fresno, CA. The abductor made off with the girl in an old Ford pick-up truck (possibly '70s or '80s). The color of the truck is brown or burnt orange and has a white stripe.

The kidnapping occured less than 12 hours ago...if you live anywhere in the western part of the U.S., Canada, or Mexico, PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THIS FORD PICK-UP TRUCK. The suspect was seen earlier in the day "exposing" himself to children. This is considered a "stranger abduction."

5. oh thank goodness
I just read that story a few minutes ago and when I read that she was wearing a purple sweatshirt with Winnie the Pooh on it... my heart just broke. Little enough to still be wearing a Winnie the Pooh shirt--how scared she must have been. I am so happy!

19. As an aside, when you mentioned her being little enough to still wear a Winnie the Pooh shirt
I looked at my own chest and noticed I was wearing a Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger shirt and I'm 47. Had this situation not turned out well, I would never mention this. It's only amusing because this kiddo is okay. Did you read the story of the group of good samaritans who helped her get away from the guy? It's inspiring.

10. Thanks. I'm breathing more easily now. What the FUCK is wrong with guys like that?
Curiously, abductions by "unknowns" are relatively rare in the greater context. Most are by relatives or family friends. Still, when it IS a stranger, that sets off a shitload more alarm bells and for a good reason. I'm glad she is safe and in good condition.

:grouphug: for the police on this one.

8. Do we know this was a stranger abduction?
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 10:59 AM by Kalyke
Most child abductions are perpetrated by a member of the child's family - and most often in the midst of custody disputes.

That said, I'm not condoning kidnapping by ANY means. I'm just pointing out that the alleged abductor might not be a "sick bastard," but a family member who feels wronged.

P.S. Adding: I'm also VERY glad the girl was found safe.

15. Just from the way it was described. The kids didn't know the guy.
He pulled up, offered to take a group of them somewhere and then apparently got frustrated and grabbed the girl. That just has BAD NEWS written all over it. I'm so glad they hunted him down so quickly.

Not mutually exclusive, of course.

And yeah, big whew.

27. Well, that's true - you can be both a sick bastard and a family member...
but I was speaking more of a father who thought the courts did him wrong or a mother who has been forbidden from seeing the children because she has no economic power.

But, now that I see the other responses, I know it was a sick bastard who will hopefully be caught and made to serve hard time.

25. It was a stranger who
exposed himself earlier in the day to two elementary school students. One of the student's parents was there, called 911, but he got away. Shortly after he kidnapped the little 8-year-old.

9. Five will get you twenty that FOX Noise ignores this completely - it isn't a pretty white girl.
If it HAD been a pretty white girl, they'd have "24x7 COVERAGE - LIVE FROM ARUBA!"

11. Well, not quite...
...Fox didn't quite "ignore" it....it is the ninth story down on their "U.S. News" page. :eyes:

The front page has a story that GOP Senate candidates are "sitting pretty" in key states, and that Harry Reid is "on the ropes."

22. Nah....
....but there was something about a complaint that the president was gratifying himself in a semi-public place. The informant said he saw the president in a restroom standing in front of a urinal and appeared to be touching his frontal private area and afterwards saw him attempt to destroy the evidence by removing germsfrom his hands with soap and water.

Further investigation by police concluded that the president simply used the public restroom and then washed his hands merely for sanitation purposes. However, Glen Beck is not satisfied with the police report, and is demanding a comprehensive investigation into these allegations.

24. She was dropped off about a 1/4 mile from my house.
I heard the helicopters early in the morning. The good news is that she's been found alive. The bad news is that this piece of offal had her all night and molested her. She reported being "sore." :puke:

OK, this guy can start counting down the number of hours he'll be alive. Child molesters are the lowest of the low in prison culture, PLUS, being a validated Bulldog gang member makes the Bulldogs look VERY bad. This guy's toast.
