Poll Shows Brown Increasing Lead Over Whitman
According to the poll, Brown has the support of 47 percent of voters, compared to 43 percent for Whitman.

However, a glance at the number for Latino voters is more striking. Brown now leads Whitman by 24 percentage points, 57 percent to 33 percent. The new poll comes just a few days after details were released about a housekeeper Whitman fired upon learning the housekeeper was in the U.S. illegally.

In the 10News poll released before the revelation, Brown only had an 11-point lead.

"You don't look good when you're running for office if you're seen abusing the help," said political analyst and college professor Carl Luna, Ph.D.

3. Doesn't Whitman have enough cash to simply steal the election? It worked for Bush.

6. She's trying
she's spent millions managing her message but there are somethings money can't buy, especially if the skeletons in the closet alienate a whole section of the population. She's lost credibility and I doubt any amount of money can buy that back.

8. She herself has said that she cannot win without the Latino vote and ...
... from that poll I posted, it looks like she sure as heck has lost that portion of the electorate.

9. That would be very hard here
We've got a very sharp, efficient Secretary of State in Democrat Debra Bowen. No tricks would get past her.

4. I can't wait
for Ronn Owens today. He was supposed to be doing a radio debate between Brown and whitman. The debate was cancelled; not sure why but I doubt it was because Brown wimped out. Ronn will not be pleased.

It should be interesting.

7. The "explanation" I heard for this was...
...that the agreement for this debate had never become finalized...and so it just never happened. I definitely would like to know more about this.

Ronn Ownes has been promoting this debate for weeks. It seemed to be finalized in his mind.

If I miss the program and explanations why there is no debate, could you please post about this? TIA

12. I'm a regular listener to KGO but IMO Ronn is a pompous windbag
It seems lately all he can do is parrot what he hears from the national media.

I got to where I couldn't listen when he would talk about the "ground zero mosque".

But you're spot on. He's gonna be pissed that somebody dissed him and he won't be shy about saying so.

He'll be on in 15 minutes - I'm gonna go pop some popcorn.

5. Man, I am telling you all...
...if Whitman had become the next Cal Gov...I would die.

BTW: One of my best gal pals was supporting Meg and when the housekeeper flap started, she watched closely. She now will not vote for Whitman because Whitman lied about the situation. My pal said she is so tired of all the liars in office and running for office. She is now voting for Brown.

10. More: Shift is to Brown ~~ Huff Po
While the new surveys show the usual random variation, a clear shift in the data is evident: Over three weeks in late August and early September, five surveys (all but one automated) showed Whitman holding modest single-point advantages and winning between 47% and 51% of the vote. The seven surveys conducted since September 15, however, (including four using live interviewers) all show Whitman with less than 44% of the vote. While our standard trend estimate now shows Brown leading narrowly (46.2% to 44.6%), our more sensitive trend lines appear to more accurately capture the recent data and show Brown leading seven percentage points (48.8% to 41.8%).

14. As I posted in a previous thread, to win statewide in CA, a candidate must win two major groups:
The unions and the Latino vote.

Both are a large percentage of the electorate in CA, well above the national average.

Whitman doesn't have the support of either one, Brown does.

16. That horrendous turn around on the Hispanic vote, IMO: Meg loses.
Both of those groups have always been strong for the Dems...and in particular for Jerry Brown. Glad Meg could not buy them off with her millions.
