The horrid face of a declining republican party...
This is what we get.

Micheal Steele is nothing more than fish gasping for air on a dock.

Rep Boner is bereft of any new ideas or direction other than "NO!" (yet all the republicans fall in line)

Since they have no message nor plan, they are really have a hard time defining themselves. So instead they flail about trying anything they can, throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, at the wall in hopes that something will stick.

Well, something stuck alright, but it certainly was not what they wanted.

What stuck was the stupid, but it wasn't the radical right stupid, not the religious right stupid , not even by the fringe right stupid, but the worst of the worst. The john birchers who are cloaking themselves in "libertarianism" heavily made up to look like republicans.

We are now treated to all sorts of crazy ass shit that, just a couple of years ago, would have been looked upon as, well, crazy ass shit. But today, for some reason, it's now perfectly acceptable in some right wing circles as being "common sense".

This is what we the nation get when we are forced into a two party system and one of those parties collapses before our eyes.

While the republicans try the best they can to put up a good front of being in charge, and keep it together, they are far from it.

The "tri-dumb-virate" of palin, o'donnell and angle have shown time and time again that while their wear the colors of republicanism, they are far from it. And have show as much by their off hand remarks and various recordings of their conversations slamming the GOP.

They know full well that the GOP is nothing but their personal gravy train to get them into office. Once there, I believe they will shed the GOP like a bad case of VD.

We are only witnessing the run up to stupidity. If anyone one of these half wits ever hold office, we will (to paraphrase Star Wars) know the full power of their stupidity.

But that aside.

When the republican party first put forth palin as the new face of the party, little did they know, (due to a colossally bad case of vetting), they were now holding the tiger by the tail. But this tiger is a tiger so vengeful and so petty, that before they could run a tally on her clothing bill, they realized they had totally screwed up and had lost all control of "the message". (if they even had one to begin with)

When they chose looks over content, they painted themselves into a corner of having to explain away the ravings of a mental midget.

However, what they didn't bargain for was, palin was basically a con artist. Unable to survive on her brains, she survived on her grifting abilities. Usually a good thing for a republican, but not this time. She was out for herself and no one else, including her family. Who, I might add, appear to serve her only as convenient props.

However, during all of this, what does the republican party do? Other than paper over some websites and try to explain away the inexplainable? They send the head of the RNC, the guy who is supposed to be out there doing a little damage control, off to lands unknown.

So that leaves the various pundits, senators and reps to spin the unspinable with sometimes conflicting opinions and accounts.

While we all like to trumpet the republicans ability to send out marching orders to their various robotic minions, they seem to have completely lost control of their party.

In the years to come, the republican party will still exist, but it will be vastly different. The old "traditionalist" within the party see what's happening and are at a loss as to what to do.(they are spineless to speak out out. Out of fear it might piss off their base) However, other republicans, never at a loss to pass up an opportunistic moment, (read dick armey), embrace the half wit movement. Seeing it for what it's worth. Yet another way to make lots of money of the backs of the willfully stupid.

While the "old guard" flails around, the new guard is not necessarily sailing the GOP ship, per say, but they are certainly in charge of the rudder while the others fight it out on the deck.

This is a political grudge match. It's been happening for years in one form or another in the republican party. But it wasn't till john mcclane kicked open the door to let in "a little fresh air" but was met by the foul stench of a dump, that things really changed. Once the door was open, there was no closing it back up.

What palin did effectively was, not so much allowing the "average person" a chance to "change" things, (I would love an average person over these half wits), she did, however, make it possible for the completely crazy to express their form of "voices-in-their-head" type statements to the nation.

While promoted as "gut feelings" or "intuition", make no mistake, these are the ravings of crazy ass people. Who choose opinion and "feeling" over hard facts and evidence.

They are the guy down the block covering his truck in black spray paint so it can't be picked up by "spy satellites", they are the lady you meet in the super market that claims the government wants to "poison" her mind with evolution, etc.

These are the people your parents told you as a kid to stay away from. "Those people are trouble", they would say.

The problem is: "those people" are the ones that now have taken the mic from the repubs and are screaming into them for as along and as loud as they can. That is, until one of the "traditional" republicans, grabs back the mic and has the offender hauled out.

But alas, that will never happen, because while the "traditional" republicans love to claim they have spine, it has become very apparent, they do not.

The repuke/tbagging masses do not even hear the facts any more...they just see the repuke's mouths moving and they nod their heads in
agreement.

3. Unfortunately, THOSE PEOPLE Have Billions of Dollars of Corporate Money Behind Them
The insurance industry alone can easily write checks to the Repiglickins for far more money than we could ever hope to raise.
All they have to do is raise their rates again to pay for it, since buying elections is now a legitimate cost of doing business.
