Saw my first pro-Paladino yard sign today
The official slogan on the printed (not homemade) sign: "I'm mad too, Carl!"

Well, if by "mad" you mean "insane", then I think you got something there, all right. :banghead:

I'm also embarrassed to be of Italian descent right about now, if you're referencing The Godfather.

Wait--I'm embarrassed that HE'S of Italian descent. x(

12. I wasn't alluding to the horse's-head-in-the-bed scene
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 12:58 PM by kenny blankenship
I was referring to Palomino's interest in horse based bestiality porn, an interest which he once shared with a number of correspondents from his email contact list. No need for anyone to be embarrassed on his behalf. Being of Italian descent - or any other extraction - is not a risk factor. Very very lonely cowboys, on the other hand, may perhaps experience a twinge of guilt by association.

My parent's backyard is visible from a major rural to city (of Rochester) road and my dad sent me a pix message this morning with a 10 * 12 foot sign (it's actually my mom's recycled Edwards sign in retaliatoin for my dad putting up 6 Obama signs in fron of her one Edwrds one on the front lawn: that says . . . I triple double dog dare ya to take this old Democratic Green Beret Out Carl. And my wife has a .38 that shoots great every day of the week too!

To those DU'ers that are gen x and younger - this is us in 30 years!

He then proceeded to rant and rave at me about a how Carl did NOT stop a riot at SU years ago . . . I guess there's buzz up in the 'cuse papers and the D & C today?

7. Cool! I'll keep an eye out for it
You mean this story?

Carl Paladino's tale of helping defuse 1970 Syracuse University student strike doesn't ring true with some

“When the riots came, I was the one who negotiated for Chief Sardino to take the place of the chancellor, who the students had locked down in the administration building ..,” he said. “Sardino had the idea that he would come up and they would let the chancellor leave and take him as their hostage, if you wanted to call it. ... So when Sardino came up with this idea I negotiated with these guys, who agreed to let the chancellor go and take Sardino in his place ...

“Sardino asked me if I would do it, and I said sure. So I went out and found them and I said, you know, ‘Take the police commissioner and let the chancellor go home. The guy’s got to take a shower, I mean for God sakes ...’ So they said, ‘Yeah, OK’.”

David Bennett, an SU history professor who visited the administration building during the protest, scoffed at Paladino’s account.

“That’s completely wrong,” he said. “He’s either living in Cloud Cuckooland or, shall we say, his historical memory is clouded by whatever it is.”

8. Here's something they can REALLY get mad about
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 12:40 PM by rocktivity
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39521480/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel_maddow_show/

The year was 1970. After four students were shot by National Guardsmen at Kent State University in May...the campus of Syracuse University, where Carl Paladino was attending law school, was no exception to...(the) unrest that swept many campuses...(S)tudents occupied the chancellor‘s office...stayed there overnight and...left the next day...Paladino, however, has just revealed that...things (went) really differently...

...Paladino told “The Syracuse Post-Standard” last week that...he was a negotiator during a hostage standoff...“When the riots came, I was the one who negotiated for the police chief to take the place of the school‘s chancellor, who the students has locked down in the administration building. I went out and found them and I said, you know, take the police commissioner and let the chancellor go home....So, they said, yes, OK.”

...(N)obody else...remembers Carl having any role in the protests or the resolution of the protests at all. A current Syracuse history professor who is at the administration building that day told “The Syracuse Post-Standard,” quote, “That‘s completely wrong. He‘s either living in Cloud Cuckooland or shall we say his historical memory is clouded by whatever it is.”

I've already crossed two after work bars off my list due to the enormous banners they have hanging up ("CARL COUNTRY").

18. Oh gods
I was afraid of that. I was hoping there wouldn't be too many of these signs, as this one was the only one I've seen.

However, I plan on judging Paladino's popularity by whether or not my fire-engine-red neighbors put one of his signs in their yard. If they don't, then there's hope for the state, IMO.

23. Was it the house of a hoarder?
You know the kind; 300+ cats, some of them crushed to death under garbage and debris, refrigerators and dismantled tools and modes of conveyance spread all over the front yard, weeds ALMOST high enough to cover up all the yard detritus, and utility shut-off notices attached to the screen door.

24. Quite the opposite, in fact!
It's a lovely old, stately home in a beautiful village. Very well kept. They must be supporting the "don't take my money in taxes" platform.

26. I saw one about a month ago
Just outside of the village where I was born.
It was an "official" printed campaign sign in orange and black colors.

It was a very rich fucks front lawn, along a confederate flag flying.
