Fee-for-Service, Pay-to-Play - The shape of things to come....
As more and more of our jobs shipped to countries with lower wages....

As more and more of the Federal dollars go to bail out the rich and pay for Imperial Wars...

As states, cities, and towns become more and more cash poor, services we have come to expect will now be metered and allocated to only those who can pay.

How long before we all get a bill for fire protection? Police protection? How many more roads will become toll-roads guarded by toll booths for the poor and EZPass for those with credit cards and good credit ratings?

We have come to accept that, if you can't afford the medical procedure, your child dies. Don't pay the fire service bill, your house burns down. I believe we'll be trained to accept more.

Sure beats socialism, huh?

1. We're already there as far as medical care goes..
You don't have the money, you don't get the care other than a bare minimum at the ER..

Doesn't do you much good if you come down with something like cancer.

3. As money moves up the ladder, the Commons will suffer.....
And the wealthy will balk at paying the bill.

9. middle class NOT NEEDED for economy to function
Edited on Tue Oct-05-10 06:32 PM by billlll
They can do their current work for

a Dollar-a-Day.

Like Mexico.

Worldwide, middle classes are being eliminated.

Only WPA and Co op jobs are safe from
1. Export to India
2. Wage-cut to Dollar a Day.

Speak up for these 2 options.

PS. ZERO unemployment forever if we revive WPA.

Finland is good proof - rated world's BEST quality of life. A democracy.

7. Our Governor tried to sell the Pennsylvania Turnpike to investors..
...

As the former head of Morgan Stanley’s domestic infrastructure banking efforts, Collins worked closely with Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell as Rendell attempted to sell the Legislature on his 2008 proposal to lease the Pennsylvania Turnpike to an international consortium of investors for $12.8 billion. The deal would have been the largest domestic P3 deal to date, but the necessary legislation stalled in the Legislature due to concerns about everything from the size of the offer to foreign involvement and the impact of toll increases on neighboring communities. “The biggest obstacle to transportation P3s is effectively the glide path for the approval process,” Collins says. “If we spend the money to launch the plane, are they going to be able to land it?"

12. Wow - everything is free under socialism?
No, wait, everyone pays taxes for essential services like health care, roads, police, fire protection, et cetera. Unlike the residents of this county in Tennessee, who decided that they would go with the exact system you're describing. And now someone has paid for it with his home.
