Rick Sanchez APOLOGIZES To Jon Stewart: Wife
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/05/rick-sanchez-jon-stewart-apology_n_750656.html

Rick Sanchez has reportedly apologized to Jon Stewart for his comments last week, which resulted in his firing from CNN.

Breaking News Hound reported that Sanchez's wife, Suzanne, had updated her Facebook page late Monday afternoon. The message read:

rick apologized to jon stewart today.they had a good talk. jon was gracious and called rick, "thin-skinned." he's right. rick feels horrible that in an effort to make a broader point about the media, his exhaustion from working 14 hr days for 2 mo. straight, caused him to mangle his thought process inartfully. he got caught up in the banter and deeply apologizes to anyone who was offended by his unintended comments.

2. Sanchez: I work a lot of hours so excuse my stupidity
If you used those long hours to mostly educate your audience and give us the truth then maybe you'd be excused. Instead you read off twitter feeds.

3. when you're overly tiredyou tend to slip up and say things that
are REALLY in your subconcious. I don't doubt he was over tired, but that means to me that he simply said what he really thinks because all his guards were down.

Now leave him alone! He works 80 hours a week just to hide his hatred for other people! :sarcasm:

28. IIRC, Sanchez was a contender for prime time slot after Paula Zhan was let go.
He was suddenly replaced by Campbell Brown & booted to the afternoon slot. Can't remember if it was before or after Blitzer, but does it matter? They're both so in over their heads! Three hours of blathering every afternoon & CNN dares to call themselves the most trusted name in news?

41. He never had a shot...
at the current position. When Campbell Brown was released, his show was a placeholder only until Parker|Spitzer. During Ms. Brown's maternity leave, he got his chances along with Roland Martin. The needle was not moved. As for pre-Campbell Brown, he may have been pissed about that one as he was overlooked. If anyone should be upset about being overlooked, its Don Lemon.

34. I think you're absolutely right, but
Isn't that something everyone struggles with every day? Fighting against your own prejudices and dislikes? A big part our lives are devoted to pushing back against the things we dislike about ourselves, in hopes that they'll eventually go away. As human beings we have likes and dislikes, fears, joys, annoyances -- and not all of them are necessarily politically correct. I don't believe there's one person here who has never had a bigoted thought in their life. I'm sure there are many who would claim they haven't, but that's bullshit. And when you're very tired or drunk or whatever, it's harder to put up those filters that help make you a civil human being.

A lot of what we think and believe has to do with how we're raised and by whom. And from our very early years we're indoctrinated into certain beliefs. It's like Richard Dawkins once said to a young Christian girl: "If you were born in India, you'd identify yourself as a muslim." Well, if you're born into a family that harbors prejudices, you're bound to struggle with those prejudices yourself, even when you know they're wrong.

Yes, Sanchez let his guard down and some of his true colors came out. But as demonstrated on Stewart's show last night, he also fights against those who hate Jews and is obviously concerned about bigotry. As Stewart said, he probably didn't really believe what he said. And the truth is, it may have simply been a piece of him that he fights against every day.

I'm sorry, but I can't bring myself to be as intolerant as some of you seem to be. So you can call me crazy and keep piling on Sanchez, but I hope you're never in a position where your own bullshit has gotten the best of you and you need to be forgiven. Or maybe I DO hope it happens and THEN you'll understand.

35. Of course we all fight things within ourselves. I have never
condemned Sanchez and I won't start now. Unfortunately there are some jobs where you are NEVER permitted to drop your guard and TV is one of them. Hopefully Rick will gt a job somewhre else nd hve learned a very expensive lesson.

If this story is true, it sounds like a sincere apology to me. Give the guy a fucking break.

15. He was actually gracious in his bit last night
I don't think he wanted him fired for it.

I think it was more criticism on his employers than the comment that got him canned. First rule of business is to never publicly criticize the people who sign your check.

If they're assholes in some way, you should be able to publicly call them out without fear of firing. But I guess that's too much to ask.

31. If I owned a business and an employee was trashing
me/it in the public sphere, I would fire that employee. You run a business to make a profit and if your own employee is criticizing it, that certainly isn't good PR.

Think of it this way: If their criticism hurts your profit, are you going to take a pay cut or are you going to fire the person that's bad for business?

I would start by not running the business by being an asshole, but, as we often see here, some people are unhappy no matter what you do.

33. Honestly, I think CNN just used this as an excuse
to get rid of a guy under contract who had a lousy show and was full of himself.

What he said was pretty pathetic, but worth firing over? I don't buy it.

it was different from when he goes after fox news and other whores where he exposes their phony reporting.

with Sanchez he mostly made fun of his style. and how can kind of get crazy .
