BAGHDAD, Iraq - A roadside bomb that exploded in the western section of Baghdad killed six U.S. soldiers and one interpreter, the U.S. military said Sunday.

The soldiers killed in the attack Saturday were from the Multinational Division-Baghdad, the military statement said.

No further details were released.

13SC (E) unit attacked
13th SC(E), LSA ANACONDA PAO

LSA ANACONDA, Iraq – One 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Soldier was killed and two were wounded in an improvised explosive device attack against their tactical vehicle near Ad Diwaniyah at approximately 12 a.m. May 19.

The wounded Soldiers were evacuated to a nearby military medical treatment facility.

Names of the Soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin and release by the Department of Defense.

The incident is currently under investigation.
