Specter to hit campaign trail for ex-rival Sestak
By Jordan Fabian - 10/06/10 01:54 PM ET

Outgoing Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) on Monday will campaign for the man who ended his three-decade Senate career, Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.)

Sestak defeated the Republican-turned-Democrat in a hotly contested primary race in May, but the two will put their differences aside at a event in Philadelphia on Monday, according to the Philadelphia Jewish Voice. The event will be the first time Specter appears on Sestak's behalf.

Specter is scheduled to appear alongside Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his Pennsylvania counterpart Sen. Bob Casey (D) in an effort to boost the second-term congressman, who trails his Republican opponent former Rep. Pat Toomey in the polls.

2. I thought so, too. And I imagine there are still people there who
like and respect Specter and his opinion. I'm hopin', anyway.

3. Plenty of affection here in Phila & surrounding suburbs.
I have a dyed-in-the-wool Dem friend who felt kind of wistful when Arlen lost the primary. Plus his wife was a longtime elected Dem official... I think Arlen might just be returning to his roots.

I'm hopin' too. :)

6. wouldn't trust Spectre any further than I could throw him ...
and, with security around Senators, I'm sure I couldn't get there to throw him ...

7. He claims he's supporting the Dem running: I'll take it. He can't
do harm doing this.
