I know this topic has been done to death here, but in case this hasn't been posted before, here's the:
Firefighters Oath
I promise concern for others. A willingness to help all those in need.
I promise courage - courage to face and conquer my fears. Courage to share and endure the ordeal of those who need me.
I promise strength - strength of heart to bear whatever burdens might be placed upon me. Strength of body to deliver to safety all those placed within my care.
I promise the wisdom to lead, the compassion to comfort, and the love to serve unselfishly whenever I am called.
-unknown author-
I know and love many fine people who were and are firefighters and have been involved with our local FD for over 25yrs.

1. Thank you for posting that. All of the firefighters I have known |
|
take that oath very seriously. And I don't know one who has not lived by it when it comes to fighting fires.

4. Seems to me the family would be happy to pay the fee after you save their house. |
|
Even if the annual fee isn't enough to cover the costs of saving a house (and I'm sure it isn't), it doesn't seem unreasonable to send them a bill after the fact. But for fucks sake, save the damn house already.

5. sometimes people who've had their homes |
|
saved by the FD become great supporters of the Dept.
I've read of some towns who have the "pay for service" fee who respond to those who haven't paid, who then attach a fee for the service they provided onto the homeowners property tax- that would seem to protect everyone in the long run.
