The Truth About the Tea Party
Does anyone think part of the reason some Tea Party members of doing well in primary elections is due to the fact that the media is failing to mention the truth about Tea Party candidates? This evening the CBS Evening News did a story on Joe Miller. The story mentioned that Miller has stated that he think government programs like unemployment benefits are unconstitutional. However, the story failed to mention that Joe Miller's wife accepted unemployment benefits after she that working for her husband. The story also failed to mention that Miller has in the past used other government programs. There are many other stories about other Tea Party members who have spoken against government while accepting government benefits.

2. I'm sick of the media portraying tea baggers as
regular voters fed up with government spending and high taxes! I heard a radio story the other day and one of the teabaggers interviewed said "I'm tired of Obama talkin' about how he had all these problems dumped on him by the last administration. That's just bunk".
Of course the reporter doesn't point out that the statement is false...he just lets it stand. Maybe they're assuming everyone knows the teabagger statement is stupid...but that's not the case. The repubs have proven over and over again that if you repeat a lie often enough...it becomes the truth.

Just ask a random person if Al Gore said he invented the internet.

but lies and half-lies. That being said, there's no question the media is no longer related to anything resembling journalism. They all seem to just provide propaganda.

4. The GOP had a huge religious right base 3 years ago. They got their
talking points from their churches. Religion was the source of many on the base's positions (so the basis of the god, gays, and creationism platform was irrational but critics accepted religion as the legitimate basis for such thinking). Then the tea baggers escaped from their GOP religious handlers. Now they have to be against government and taxes (which the rich in the gop want) while not having the irrationality of religion to hide behind. Remember that the push used to be to have religion mixed up with government under Bush. Not they don't bother with that anymore. They are tea baggers and they are voting against their own best interests....so they are hypocrites. Pure and simple. No religion to hide behind anymore.
