A restaurant where customers never complain about the food.
Only in Italy. Perhaps they will soon have a piano and Silvio Berlusconi to croon them a tune.

'They made me a pasta I couldn't refuse'

By Nick Pisa, Sunday Telegraph
Last Updated: 12:35am BST 20/05/2007

Diners are flocking to what could perhaps be termed the most exclusive restaurant in Italy - one located inside a top security prison, where the chefs and waiters are Mafiosi, robbers and murderers.

Serenaded by Bruno, a pianist doing life for murder, the clientele eat inside a deconsecrated chapel set behind the 60 ft-high walls, watch towers, searchlights and security cameras of the daunting 500-year-old Fortezza Medicea, at Volterra near Pisa.

Under the watchful eye of armed prison warders, a 20-strong team of chefs, kitchen hands and waiters prepares 120 covers for diners who have all undergone strict security checks. Tables are booked up weeks in advance.

1. It's 6:52 p.m. here; we live five minutes from the Italian border and an hour by car from Milan,
and it's Call Me Wesley's night to cook. I'm STARVING. Damn Berlusconi. Dang Call Me Wesley and his grill.

2. My first thought was the Olive Garden test kitchen
when I saw the word Italy. I know how much DUers love Olive Garden. :sarcasm:

3. As long as they don't ask "Would you like some grated cheese?"
And it's time to take them damned pepper mills out of servers' hands.

4. Try having dinner in South Philadelphia.
Had dinner in this South Philly restaurant just before the son of the mob boss was shot. If I remember correctly, the veal was pretty good. This happened later:

(Nicky) Scarfo Jr. survived on Halloween 1989 when two hitmen opened fire on him in Dante & Luigi’s Restaurant in South Philadelphia. Despite being riddled with bullets, Scarfo managed to survive. But Scarfo’s father felt that it was too dangerous to keep him in the City of Brotherly Love, so he sent his son off to north Jersey where he was put under the care of the Newark faction and formally inducted into the Mafia to further insure his safety. By the rules of the Mafia, a made man cannot be rubbed out without sanction from a Mafia commission made up of bosses from several different crime families. Once Scarfo Jr. got his “button,” he wasn’t just an anybody anymore. Now permission would be needed to kill him.

It is so much fun to have dinner in South Philly. You never know who you might meet.

5. I did volunteer work at the Children's Hospital
we used to get off work around 2 in the Morning and head over to the Market and watch the show there. It was just starting to get busy around that time. Always good things to eat there. Is it still in operation?
