Obama to install solar panels on White House roof.
Obama won't be the first President to do so. Carter had panels on the White house before Reagan had them quietly removed.

We kicked off the first annual GreenGov Symposium today at George Washington University with more than 1,000 attendees, and keynotes from U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Janine Benyus, president of The Biomimicry Institute and co-founder of the Biomimicry Guild. Secretary Chu and I had the honor of announcing plans to install solar panels and a solar hot water heater on the roof of the White House Residence, a project that demonstrates American solar technologies are available, reliable, and ready for installation in homes throughout the country.

1. How sad...
I was about to say the next Republican President would probably just have them removed. I was unaware The God Reagan had already done that.

So sad.

4. Yeah here is the original.

The sad thing about what Reagan did is that once installed 99% of lifetime solar cost has already been paid. It is a sunk cost. No matter how little those older panels produced it was in effect "already paid".

Reagan removed them as a PR thing. He wanted to push return to conventional US energy supplies. The meme that "we have more than enough fossil fuel energy to power America" is kinda diminished when the WH has solar panels.

The good news is that panels today likely are 10x as powerful as the ones Carter installed.

7. Governor Henry installed a wind turbine on the Governor's Mansion
Here in Oklahoma! Imagine that, in an oil state! :bounce:
http://www.windtechnicianblog.com/?p=92
It's quite noticeable...I see it every time I pass the capitol area on I-235.

That's quite a contrast from the oil derrick that's been sitting in front of the capitol building for decades.

Too bad his term ends next January, and the GOP darling Mary Fallin has the edge over Jari Askins.

If Fallin gets in, I wonder if she'll tear down that windmill? :(
