Will Parker Spitzer Be Cancelled?
Eliot Spitzer's new CNN primetime show, "Parker Spitzer," which the former New York governor co-hosts with conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, got off to an underwhelming start this week.

The reviews of its Monday debut ranged from scathing to tepid, and the ratings clocked only 454,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

This was fewer than had been tuning in when recently-fired anchor Rick Sanchez was filling in during the same 8 p.m. time slot, and also far fewer than other recent CNN premieres.

Sanchez, for instance, had 845,000 total viewers during the first-hour of his two-hour show, "Rick's List," when it debuted at 3 p.m. on January 18 of this year. A few months later, CNN's 7 p.m. face, John King, debuted with 693,000 total viewers. And when Joy Behar launched her new show on CNN's sister network, HLN, on Sept. 29, 2009, 559,000 viewers tuned in.

(Spitzer's predecessor at 8 p.m., Campbell Brown, started off with around 1.3 million viewers, though that's a bit of an unfair comparison since her show debuted on Oct. 20, 2008, right smack in the middle of the election season.)

2. Parker is a psychotic hack and it's a stupid time slot. If we're being honest.

3. Parker/Spitzer
I said I would not watch this show because of Parker, but I have tried it a couple of times. Parker is not quite as bad as I thought, but it still has too much of a Cross-fire quality. I agree with above post. Parker is trying to dominate, and physically places herself in the center of the table. Spitzer is still talking too fast, faster than his normal pace, and I think their chemistry is off. Maybe they will iron out the kinks. But I'm not optimistic. Spitzer has intelligence and knowledge needed by the public sphere, but this format does not do him justice.

4. I don't see conservatives seeing Parker as enough of a firebrand....
...for them to switch their TVs from Fox. Not saying that I agree with Parker or I like Parker, but I see conservatives viewing her like liberals view Alan Colmes. As a lightweight.

7. Conservatives hate her
She was one of the first GOP'er to ask for Palin to give it up. She ended up making a small reputation out of being a contrarian conservative and got a RINO reputation. I've never found her command of the material all that impressive, and she always comes off as some political variation of Dear Abbey.

8. Parker was one of the first Republicans to point out Palin's deficiencies
and she was raked over the coals by the tea-bag/Limbaugh/Hannity crowd.

She's a Republican but she isn't a lemming and for the most part she's calls it as she sees it. I haven't watched the program yet but it's got an uphill climb when it's sandwiched into the same time-slot as Keith O and Bill O. It may have worked better going up against Hardball.

5. I watched it last night. I thought it was pretty good, actually. No yelling or
Interrupting like some do. I like civilized discussion. Parker is actually thinking, which so many conservatives have forgotten how to do. So what ifni don't agree with her. We need more discussion like this where people try to understand the opponent's reasoning. Notma great time slot, I suppose, but I thought it was a better show than most of the shit that passes for political discourse these days.

9. I like Spitzer a lot
but wouldn't tune in to him instead of Keith. They got some stiff competition and CNN is well CNN, just don't watch it at all in the first place. He should have stayed with MSNBC and worked his way up to a show. He is a brilliant man but this was a bad decision to go with CNN.
