:nuke::nuke: :applause:  :nuke::nuke: " GOP SENATOR BLASTED FOR SUGGESTING GAYS, UNMARRIED, PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULDN'T TEACH IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Joining several LGBT and women's rights organizations, the nation's two major teachers unions are now coming out and criticizing Sen. Jim DeMint's (R-S.C.) recent comments that openly gay individuals and unmarried pregnant women should be barred from teaching in public schools.
"We thought these battles had already been fought and won decades ago," said National Education Association (NEA) Government Relations Director Kim Anderson. "This is one of the reasons why the NEA has fought for civil and human rights ever since its conception 157 years ago, and we want qualified people in the classroom, and it doesn't matter whether they're married or what their sexual orientation is."
When asked whether DeMint should apologize publicly for his remarks, Anderson replied, "I hope that voters will make their minds up clearly and send a message to him about what his policy statements should reflect."
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is run by Randi Weingarten, who is out as an openly gay woman. "On a personal level, as a gay woman, I am very disappointed that a senator would place more emphasis on who we are as human beings than on what we do as professionals," said Weingarten in a statement to The Huffington Post. "That is not the UNITED States of America that was on display at last Saturday's One Nation rally in Washington, D.C. That event better reflected the country that I know and am proud of."

15. Save those hopes for some other race. |

No way Greene will win, especially since have a sane Green Party candidate here. I will be voting for Tom Clements. Greene is a nutcase at best, and I don't want him as my Senator any more than I want DeMented as my Senator.
Even if Vic Rawls had gotten the nomination, there are too many automatons in this state who only vote for candidates who have an "R" after their name, regardless of how corrupt the are. (See: Mark Sanford, Strom Thurmond, Joe Wilson, Lindsay Graham...)

4. So, when does the popular media pick up on this? |
|
I mean, it seems that I've heard a whole bunch about Richard Blumenthal's horribly unforgivable locution in talking about "us" when he mentioned the return of active duty military personnel after Vietnam. Now, while it's true that Blumenthal actually was in the military (unlike, say, Dick Cheney) during Vietnam, he wasn't in a combat role, so it was the red-blooded duty of all good Americans to denounce Blumenthal and his statement, which might have been construed as seeking to confer combat status on himself that he didn't deserve.
DeMint makes an unambiguously dumbass statement like this? We get crickets from the popular media. Whyizzat?

perhaps a strong public statement that Senators who wear diapers and chase hookers should not be Senators. Or, Reps that tap dance in public bathrooms should not be Reps, or (Henry Hyde--are you watching?)should Henry Hyde have stayed in the congress after breaking up the family of his girlfriend. Last, but not least by any means, How about that Newt?
Oh,the list is endless. Why is it that our dems never fight back?

the charade these hypocritical ' family values ' republican pinheads who love wrapping themselves around the higher calling of God and Flag while disguising their judgmental & moralistic hatred by probing and destroying people's private lives except THEIR OWN.

DeMint is running against a lunatic, who "won" the nomination under questionable circumstances. The Democratic Party is so weak in this state, they couldn't even get a decent investigation of the whole thing. Not to mention that this state is busting at the seams with Bible thumpers who agree with him.

This isn't the first time he's said this. He said it during the debates six years ago. Crickets then, crickets now. His party owns the media, so why would they cover one of their minion's controversies?

14. Yeah, let's run them like Catholic schools where female teachers get fired for getting divorced from |
|
their abusive husbands. (Actual story that happened in this area - numerous times - and I live in uber liberal Massachusetts.)
For the record, male teachers who get divorced have not, in my anecdotal experience, received pink slips.
