Just Told My Co-Worker To STFU.....
Edited on Thu Oct-07-10 06:32 PM by rsmith6621

.....I have a co-worker who goes on a daily two hour rant against Obama and Liberal values and what he believes to be SOCIALISM..

Well first point....he wasn't born on USA soil and wasn't born as as USA citizen....and second point he is in the USA as a GREEN CARD resident for the past 23 years and uses the argument that the USA is going the way of Europe and that is why Europe is in an economic decline..

Well this morning I decided to get the best of him.....at the tail end of his signature rant in front of everyone I said are you planing on voting on Nov 2nd...he said no,I cant...I said why not(this is when he admits he is a GREEN CARDER)cause I'm not a naturalized citizen..... I then RANTED on him...from information gathered from earlier rants "I said so you basically came here to take advantage of what this country has to offer" "If you don't like what is going on in your homeland why don't you go back and get politically involved and motivate others with like beliefs to change it"

I then said while I appreciate your opinion-s but until you change your resident status and prove that this place is worth sacrificing your allegiance to your homeland you just need to SHUT UP otherwise your spew has the same effect as me going to you country and bitching about your country's policy's.....its annoying...

I said you should be thankful that the constitution that you say OBAMA doesn't respect is the same constitution that allows you to have a voice so far from home....

1. I am not conservative, and I am born in the USA.

But honestly I think of how france helped in revolutionary war, and think that open contributions of ideas from foreigners, that believe in democracy, is a valid counter to money contributions from foreign nationals.

They opened that door by taking money from foreigners. So although I disagree with your friend, I think the idea of contribution of ideas from many better minds from many countries can help with the concepts of democracy and better systems.

So I would not berate him for commenting, but would disagree with what your friend says.

On a side note I hope to travel and see many places, might even stop by England or Wales some day.

I think someone is going to love these clip.

John Goodman, King Ralph

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FEsismdGWY

I just saw that last clip, do people like that really not swear and stuff? Never knew that.

Side note, letter clip from knights tale, has the story of my great grandmother in it.
Side side note, I posted that side note comment years ago on another web site before seeing that movie, and anyone can check it out, it is true.

What say you Shakespear?
Band Of Brothers speech.

B o b Eastwood.

Side Side Side note, I think a person earns on his own, not by heritage, so have never done for myself with such a claim. Just figured it might spin up some people, and be a bit humorous.

Also a reply to a poster that spoke about people pulling rank on people, to explain that is not the case.

It is funny, but it also is true, makes it even more ironic. Although I believe in systems of Representative Democracies, so don't worry about it.

You didn't believe it when I said Royal Flush, and Full House did you? It was in hearts also, always liked that part.

6. My Mom always said something like that.
I'm a third generation Democrat.

Mom always said that your vote was your griping license.

7. Hey,
My Mom said something similar.

She said if you see something you don't like, work like hell to change it. If you choose not to try and change it, then keep your mouth shut!

8. co-workers should STFU on any subject not work related
and is offensive or annoying to other co-workers as it creates a hostile work environment. I doubt the boss would appreciate the two hour daily breaks he takes in order to make rants that have nothing to do with work either.

Why do people put up with kind of annoying shit at work? Doesn't matter if it's political talk or any other annoying or offensive talk, it's disruptive and has a negative effect on the workers trying to do their work.

13. tell them to STFU so you can work
and if that doesn't work, go over his head.

However, we were talking about co-workers in this thread.

Honestly, it's disgusting that workers these days would feel like they have to put up with abuse at work, and this kind of shit is abuse whether it's coming from a co-worker or the boss.

16. Right? I get really aggravated at some of the off-topic chatter in my office.
A little water cooler conversation is fine, but keep it light people.

Non-US citizens shouldn't express opinions about this country :sarcasm:

I'm not so sure you really "got the best of him" or at the very least, didn't give him the best of you. He shouldn't be talking about this sort of stuff at work, so if you want to go off about that, that's certainly appropriate, but if you're going to enter the debate itself as a "combatant", I don't think "Get your citizenship, go back home, or shut up and be thankful" convinced him he's wrong about anything.

15. I was surprised as well,
Its amazing what people are willing to accept based on the political leanings of those involved. If the immigrant were going off on a rant about how the problem with this country was that we didn't have universal health care, and the rest of the OP was the same, the responses would have been completely different.

really is pretty irrelevant.

18. The repukes were saying this for years during the * administration
when they would do those international opinion polls, or whenever the US was getting criticism from other countries.
