Stephanopoulos:"The immigration deal WILL NOT PASS." Winners, losers. |
|
Unaccountalby (to me, anyway), some of the big outlets have been labeling the deal as a "victory" for Shrub, an "accomplishment, achievement" for his 2nd term. Since he would be WRECKING the LAST REMNANTS of his own most rabid wingnuts, wrecking his political party, it is difficult to see how this would be a victory for him.
Unless -- could it be!!1 -- his media fellators would see him as taking a HUMANITARIAN stance in defiance of his own rabble. Yaas, THAT's the ticket, for Tweety and others to have their years of blind choosing of him to be redeemed!!1 So they would be thinking of his "victory" in terms of a legacy in the HUMANE sense, a wee toothpick standing in a swath of felled trees in a meteor's path.
But really, I believe the wingnuts will stop this thing to a standstill. And yet, not only will the country at large NOT stomach mass deportations, such a thing is near an impossibility, if nothing else in dollar magnitude.
So what do we have left? Another mess to be dealt with any future Dem president. This is a situation like NIXON with China: The wingnuts will never stand for a humane answer from a Dem president. Only a Rethug (Shrub) can make them gag it down.

2. I don't see mass deportations. |
|
I do see people going home when employment dries up.
I think that badly done raids like the one in New Bedford, however, will be a thing of the past.
I am opposed to illegal immigration, but that was just cruel.
