Obama courageously refuses to sign legislation on foreclosure that has passed both houses.

Obama is standing up for those people who are in danger of losing their homes to money
lenders. He refused to sign legislation that had been paseed by both houses of congress
(by his own party members).

Has Obama decided to make a change in direction in his way of governing of the past two
years? Will he continue to show toughness when called for?

1. Maybe
It's also possible that all the phone calls and emails from us professional left wing loons had something to do with it.

2. Obama has been the same all along
You were probably complaining too much to notice.

5. I don't think I was complaining too much, but I was complaining

some, the main thing being Obama's bending over backwards to appease the Neocons.

1. My first attempt at explanation for his behavior was that Obama didn't appreciate
how sick and dangerous the Neocons were. A high percentage of their leadership was made
up of psychopaths. If only someone would convince him to seek the counsel of some mental
health professional who would explain to him who and what psychopaths are. And how lucky
he was that they rejected it each time Obama made his offer of bipartisanship. If they
had accepted his offer, it would only have been for the purpose of continuing to destroy
Obama and his administration from within.

Psychopaths only responded to profit and fear of punishment. They'd have nothing but contempt
for anyone who was appeasing them and giving in to their demands so quickly and easily.

2. My second attempt at explanation was that Obama might have deliberately offered
bipartisanship because he had some plan up his sleeve. I was hoping that this second one
was correct. But I also couldn't help but feel appalled by the amount he was giving in to
the Neocons.

Your "Obama has been the same all along" somehow isn't too assuring. If he continues to give
them what they want, he'd have little or nothing left to bargain with. It's about time
that he used his veto -- which he finally did.

4. Oh, come on, this isn't exactly the height of courage
I mean its nice that he vetoed an apparently terrible piece of legislation, but it isn't exactly an act of great courage.

6. Compared to his previous offering to lower his demands
to the Neocons before the actual bargaining even began, Obama's present veto is a monumental achievement
in bravery -- nothing less.

I can only hope that this is his normal way of operating, but which he had to hold back until the right
time. And that there will be no more footsie-playing with the Neocons from now on. These are only
wishes at this point. I'd like to see it before I can be convinced that it isn't only a one-time deal.
