It seems within the realm of possibility that Reid may lose while Dems retain the Senate.
If that happened, who would be likely to replace Reid?

2. What/who makes that determination? I think both Reid and McConnell are |
|
pretty milk-toasty, and I don't understand why they were chosen. Don't they want a kick-ass person in that position?

3. Kick-ass people usually don't appeal to all sides |
|
You have to be able to work with everyone in the caucus so it's an intrinsically middle-of-the-road job.

4. And after two spineless cowards like Daschle and Reid |
|
It's obvious that idea isn't working.
I'm no fan of the cat butcher (or Bob Dole, for that matter) but at least they fought for their team. Daschle and Reid fought against theirs most of the time.

5. But perhaps someone with a little more oomph than Reid or McConnell? Someone |
|
who could inspire and get the juices flowing? Of course, in my mind, Biden would be perfect :-), but seriously, somebody along those lines? I'd heard that Dodd was considered but it ended up going to Reid. At the time I liked Dodd (:eyes:) and thought he would have been much better in that position - more effective, don't you? This was before he went to work for the lobbyists, though.

I think Reid has turned out to be a big failure in the Senate as a leader and honestly won't be sad to see him go. He didn't get hardly anything done when the Democrats had a big majority for whatever reason.

10. Dick Durbin is Majority Whip and Would Move Up to Being Majority Leader |
|
or Minority Leader if the GOP takes over the Senate. He's got a solid, liberal record and is usually considered one of the better debators in the Senate.
