Student teacher ousted for gay marriage comments!
This seems totally unfair to me and I hope a lawsuit is planned!

Seth Stambaugh, a student teacher at Sexton Mountain elementary school, was apparently dismissed after answering a fourth-grader's question about his marital status by saying it would be illegal for him to marry because he would choose to marry a man.
The controversy has led to denials of anti-gay discrimination by the district, the student teacher scrambling to meet academic requirements, a lawyer weighing options for a lawsuit, and a graduate education program using the incident as a teachable moment.

2. So a straight person is allowed to talk about a husband or wife,
or the lack of a husband or wife, but a gay person can't, ever. Because that's a way of telling a 9 year old that you're gay, and that's inappropriate and you'll be fired for that.

But the district doesn't have anything against their LGBT employees. Really. :eyes:

They love all their LGBT employees, as long as they agree to stay in the closet.

8. It's truly infuriating, isn't it?
That gays are forced to hide their orientation from school children is abominable, as if being gay was anything but normal.

The student teacher gave an honest answer that did not seek to promote anything.

It's outrageous, and evidence of the serious discrimination gays must daily face.

12. Since the day straight people first decided that they had to Pretend
to support LGBT people, without really offering any real support at all. :(

DADT is a great way to do that.

It puts the pressure on us to remain entirely closeted and hidden, and then if we are outed or discovered in any way, they feel they have Permission to persecute us for daring to be seen. x(

That is the hypocrite's version of valuing LGBT members of their staff or community.

......Stambaugh was wearing pressed slacks, an oxford-style shirt and his grandfather's cardigan."

:wtf: The administration and parents in this district sound like nutters.

14. Even a clean shirt and pants would be too fabulous for those Neanderthal parents/administrators.

Pressed clothing? They'd probably never seen such a thing.
