Does the GOP have a shot at the Senate AGAIN?
Edited on Fri Oct-08-10 08:46 PM by BrentWil
I thought the chance that the GOP gets 51 seats was OVER after the O'Donnell in Delaware. However, I checked out pollster and they have 48 seats at least leaning towards the GOP and 3 seats as toss ups. Do using nothing but logic, does the GOP have a real chance of 51 Senate seats?

Americans have the attention span of a gnat's ass. I whole heartedly agree with the people who Joe Klein interviewed who believe that the US is terminal. This Nation will never again be what it was. It's a travesty but, I just don't see us ever turning back the clock to revive what the best of America had at one time.

9. Too much TV IMHO. Too many people outsourcing their own thinking to corporate media. nt

That's why I was half out of my mind when the USSC ruled against Gore in 2000. The apathy of the people in this country and listening to the bullshit on tv, the lies, and stupidity and bias of the talking sycophants. I turned to the message board at The Washington Post, thinking ok, home of the Watergate guys. Woodward and Bernstein. I'll get some real people thoughts there. NOT.

Thanks to Skinner, Elad, and EarlG I found sanity and like minded outraged Americans. Still here and grateful for those who participate in this forum even when we fight like cats and dogs this is the best place for exchanging ideas, learning, venting, loving and caring.

DU is the first place I goto for my news each morning and then to find out what everyone else is thinking about a particular topic. DU is family with all the good, the bad, and the insanity. I love it!

4. If you believe polls and sit at home they will win
Hey I live in Michigan and even though it has been doom and gloom here I am seeing hope, in my area of the state the D yard signs out number the R yard signs 7 to 1. I also here older retiree's talking about how badly the R's are and how they don't want no part of their taking the country back. I was even down in Grand Rapids MI and was very surprised by the lack of R yard signs, when I lived down there 2 years ago that was all you seen city wide was R yard signs, so maybe the R voters aren't as fired up as the media would have us believe.

5. Nate Silver's model now puts the odds at about a 1 in 4 chance
72% chance of taking the House.

7. My prediction: The three states called "Toss up" will go Dem
Edited on Fri Oct-08-10 09:35 PM by demwing
(Washington, Nevada, Illinois), plus Feingold, Bennet, and Sestak will pull it out in the end. We'll lose 7 seats total, and walk away bruised but happy to still have those 53 Senators.

If we get lucky, Conway will wake up Kentucky (or Paul will scare the bejesus out of the voters) and we get 54 seats.

If really weird shit happens, Meek will drop, Crist will take Florida, and sit with the Dems (55). If it's a really REALLY weird night, we get NH, but it's probably not worth the energy to hope.

Those are the predictions - I'm calling it here.

Oh yeah -Murkowski may take Alaska, but will still sit with the Repugs. Alaska, btw, shows only 90% total voters. If that other 10% votes for the Dem, I'll sleep well on the symbolic victory.

Unfortunately, the House looks to be going to Boner. This makes me thow up a little in my mouth. I'd rather lose the Senate than the house, just because of that man. Also, I'd take Pelosi over Harry Reid any day...

11. If Mr. Boner didn't deliberately lie to his supporters, and totally
fucking scam them, then maybe some reThugs and Independents would vote Democratic. If they truly believe every word he says, then he is literally stealing their votes. He is such a lying sack of Mitch McConnell.
