How can any woman, minority, unemployed, or young person sit out or vote republican this November?
I realize the Democrats in Congress have been a mixed bag, and for some so has the administration, but can anyone really believe that a republican take-over of the house and senate will help them?

4. They don't have to; they can just say that they are going to.

Other people on the Internet are unlikely to know their real identity, much less how they voted with a secret ballot.

5. If you believe the polls, they reflect that we are going to lose both houses, and that doesn't seem
to indicate your hope that they may just be saying one thing but doing another

6. More than half the population is totally politically unaware
and apathetic. Including some pretty educated people. I once had a professional colleague of my sister tell me why she didn't ever read the newspaper (and this was before internet or cable news, when newspapers were just about the only source for those unable to watch nightly news). Her husband was was the stereotype of a high school drop out, who worked hard, played harder and couldn't care less about the world around him, so clearly they never talked current events or politics.

But, in terms of her own "excuse," she said that "she hated getting the news print on her hands." Sometimes it is just that superficial. A minor inconvenience to some is enough of an excuse.

7. The Can't Afford To Sit Out
or they may never have another chance to participate. We were victims of Republican theft of elections for eight years. If they get a majority again, we will be doomed to a Republican dictatorship lead by Rove and covered up by the government. With new campaign finance laws and ignorant voters our freedoms will be doomed.

8. Or an immigrant.
My neighbors both recently received their citizenship. They had a Baker (R) for Mass. governor lawn sign in the front yard, which recently disappeared for some reason. I am not sure if it was stolen or if they came to their senses. For the life of me I cannot understand why any immigrant, and particularly any Hispanic immigrant, would ever vote for a Republican.

Corporations control the MSM, the MSM controls what people see and hear. Thus people follow blindly what they are told to do. I am not just talking about Faux News and Oxycoton Rush. I remember watching an episode several years back of the show 24. The piece showed Kiefer Sutherland interviewing a pornographer in the pornographer’s office.

Prominently displayed on the pornographers desk was an 8x10 of President Bill Clinton. Sets do not just happen by accident; everything on a set is planned. That’s when I stopped watching any Fox station.

It’s called sublime messaging, very old technique, yet very effective.

I also listen to a local radio station that plays music that I enjoy, however the morning DJ almost every morning has an off color comment, usually in the form of a joke, about anything Democrat, and he does it in subtle way but always slants to the negative when talking about them. Again subliminal messaging. I see it everyday every where.

I used to work in the intelligence community when I was in the Navy; I worked with "spooks" as they were called. I understand a little something about this topic.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

16. Maybe its because we are a "center-right" country ....
I want to scream every time I hear a talking head use that phrase. Its a ridiculous claim, and yet it passes as "common knowledge" across the media.

12. There are women who feel inferior to everything and they
all seem to love the republican party and especially the tea bags. Look at Phyllis Shoofly she has been against women's right since she first slithered on to the scene in the late 60's.

17. How can anybody who works for a paycheck vote republican? I mean
these right wing bastards want to raise the social security retirement age to 70 and then give huge tax cuts to the rich SOBs that sent our manufacturing jobs overseas. They are talking about cutting the minimum wage, less money for teachers, end unemployment compensation, etc etc. Makes me think they are all suffering from Battered Wife Syndrome or maybe they just enjoy shooting their selves in the foot to entertain the wealthy.

20. Two Things...
1) They can only steal or manipulate CLOSE elections. So swamp the mofo's with votes... tell your neighbors, tell you friends, tell Randy Gonzales...

2) You'll feel better about yourself. Ya see... if you want to participate in political discussions, and be taken seriously, you have to AT LEAST cast your vote. Can't tell you the number of times I've seen people try to bring up a salient political point, only to be dismissed out of hand as un-serious once it was discovered that they had not voted.

26. Oh... I'm Pissed Off And Disappointed Too, But...
I'll be damned if I'm gonna let the racist, misogynist, war mongering, homophobes get a free pass from me.

Yes "Lesser of Two Evils" voting sucks, but the Evil on the Right is really, really, strong this time around.

Fox News
Glenn Beck
Rush Limbaugh
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Sara Palin
Sharon Angle
Joe Miller
Christine O'Donnell
Rand Paul
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

23. I'm involved in some activism
To get the Paycheck Fairness Act over the finish line. What I'm reading in those message boards and hearing conversations from women: How long do we have to wait to get what we've earned. They are not going to sit it out - but we are pretty pissed off that this is languishing and as for so many years. Now - it's a matter of getting the message across to younger women that we are just dead in the water if they don't get out there and hold the line.

Is it Fear Based Voting? You betcha. But if we are telling them - not only will you lose out on $700K to $2 million dollars in a lifetime if you DON'T vote, you have a field of candidates that will send you back to the 'Secretarial Pool', and take away your right to have sex with whom you want, in the way you want, wherever you want without access to birth control.

I spent this morning reaching out to women we have identified as being under the age of 30.

I really don't thinkt he poster that is 28 is too far off from where a lot of those younger women are. They don't believe how bad it can be if they don't vote. Better to try than to just give up.
