unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (Righthaven LLC?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on
Army Times, and
Airforce Times, I’ve decided to give ya’ll an unhappycamper summary of the article and a link to the OP. To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on

unhappycamper summary of this article: I think the Afghanistan clusterfuck is taking a really bad turn.
A Senate panel report tells us that the United States is
paying Taliban to guard US bases in Afghanistan. This is NOT a typo.
The GAO tells us that contractor oversight in Afghanistan is sorely lacking, yet commanders on the ground have fistfuls of money to give away. And in the United States fire fighters in Tennessee let a house burn down because the owner did not 'subscribe' to the fire department.
And now the United States needs to go back in and
pacify Marjah (again).
Is there
anything we have done correctly in Afghanistan? Or in the Middle East? Or in Africa? Or in Latin American?
