1. Tough choices, so many fun ones to choose from.
War, poverty, class inequality, religious movements, and pollution are the ones which stand out to me.

5. Other. Overconsumption.
Edited on Sat Oct-09-10 12:10 PM by rrneck
I think it's different from consumerism. If one wants base their life on stuff, fine. But there is no cultural mechanism to put the brakes on that impulse. We can't seem to curb out gluttony.

It's ironic that we have been able to bend nature to our will to create a man made environment that exists on a scale with nature, but we can't seem to control it at all.

Edit to add: Self checkout indeed.

6. For most of recorded history, "gluttony" has not been a problem.
Now we're fully programmed for it.

8. All of the above, and...
I loathe self checkouts. Customers there are probably the dumbest people walking the face of the Earth. For one, self checkouts are for people with not too many items who want to leave in a hurry. But you get those assholes with carts full of shit and take their time checking out. Secondly, it's SCAN & BAG, not scan and look like a dumbass while the machine is telling you to bag the item while you hold it in your hand. There's a scale there reading what you scanned. If the item isn't in the bag, the computer will beep. Ugh. Those things just piss me off.

32. lol no need better glasses. Your post makes sense when you include the first sentence

I thought that there was something strange about the poll.

As for an 'agenda' I am also not very good at keeping track of any past discussions. Beyond a few high volume profilers that one runs into on a regular basis I can't keep track of folks names and 'factions'.
