What's the ugliest proposition on you local/state ballots?
Arizona has one to stop "preference" given to women and minority students and faculty, publicly supported by--wait for it--Russell Pearce, the man who brought us the despicable AZ SB 1070.

Ballotpedia entry for AZ Prop 107:
http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Arizona_Civil_Rights_Amendment,_Proposition_107_(2010)

Have I metioned lately how much I loathe ballot props which are, IMHO, designed to get the most ill-informed voters to the polls so that the worst candidates can win? Not to mention allowing the worst, most controversial legislation to become law without harming state legislature candidates?

3. 60, 61 and 101
These three would totally destroy Colorado. Basically eliminating funding for any public works project (roads, bridges, schools, libraries, fire stations....etc.) These measures are so awful that even regularly repug leaning organizations have come out against them.

19. There have been a few discussions on DU
about 60, 61 and 101. If these pass I will seriously begin looking to move out of state. A conservative estimate of jobs that will be lost is 70,000. These jobs would include firemen, police, teachers, librarians and construction workers.
I work in construction and my industry would be decimated.

4. MA 1,2,3
Question 1 would take away state money for drug and alcohol treatment by ending the tax on alcohol.

Question 2 would take away opportunities for affordable housing across Massachusetts by eliminating the main affordable housing law.

Question 3 would take away more than $2.5 billion from our schools, parks, roads, youth programs, and services for seniors by reducing the sales tax from 6.25% to 3%.

22. Ken Buck endorsed this, then changed his stance
saying that he hadn't 'understood' all the ramifications. Most recently he has unendorsed his unendorsement, attempting to present himself as neutral. But he sticks to his insistence that rape and/or incest are not sufficient justification for abortion.

10. Mandatory minimums for sex crimes.
Written so vaguely that a 15 year old busted for sexting could get 25 years in an adult prison.

It was written by Kevin Mannix, so it's a no-brainer vote of "NO".

12. NM is shockingly businesslike
considering the gunfire and knifeplay that occasionally breaks out at political meetings out here. Most of the ballots concern school taxes and initiatives for major road and bridge construction.

While it's an obvious wild west state, it's Democratic and Democrats generally don't stand for that nonsense.

15. Measure 75: The Oregon Job Growth Education And Communities Fund Act, Part II.
Edited on Sat Oct-09-10 06:34 PM by HuckleB
Cascadia Journal said it better than I could...

"Don’t you just love the people who write some of these ballot measure titles who try to hide the real meaning of the measure. Does anything in that title tell you that the point of this measure is to build exactly one privately-operated gambling casino in Multnomah County and nowhere else? Does it mention that the supporters are the one company that would operate the casino? And did we mention that it is unconstitutional to do this? Thank goodness for the ballot initiative in Oregon, where we can attempt to pass something, even if it’s illegal. Besides, you might wonder whatever happened to Part 1!)"

but the personhood one pisses me off especially. a similar one went down by a 2-1 margin in 2008, so i'm not too worried, but it makes me nuts that shit like that is getting on the ballot here.
