President Donald Trump??? |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-09-10 03:07 PM by Cyrano
The Donald is talking about running for president in 2012. Is he jerking us around, or is he just jerking off?
My guess is that you or I have a better chance of becoming president than Trump. What makes him qualified? His vast wealth? His "vast intellect?" His success in life at building buildings?
Then again, given some of the totally insane people running for office these days, who's to say that Trump couldn't make it to the White House?
Our country has run off the tracks. The super rich are playing games while all the rest of us are bleeding in a ditch. And though America has gone through some horrible eras, perhaps the worst is still ahead of us.
I have no idea what drives Trump and those like him, but I do know that his ego is larger than anything he's ever built. Just try imagining a President Trump. I have no doubt that the words that would most often come out of his mouth are "You're fired."
The rest of the civilized world thinks we've gone absolutely nuts and I tend to agree with them. I've often thought of moving to Europe, but that's really not far enough away.
Does anyone have the phone number ET used to call home?

if we have money flowing in from overseas to influence congressional races, the presidential race should be interesting

3. Actually, I am questioning if the our presidency |
|
is just for show, more or less of a symbolic position. We have seen how little power Obama has to affect change. Corporations, the Pentagon, and right side of Congress wield more power. Our "leader" just gives us a focus for either blame or praise. I am just not sure how important this position is anymore.

5. as soon as he pays Deutsche Bank the $40 mil |
|
and then finds another million he will be a millionaire again.
It sucks that our government is for sale but fortunately Trump can't afford it right now.

6. The presidency is a bauble, like it is for Palin |

and neither one of them would actually run anything, although I'm sure Trump would like to try. Their job would be to be the friendly face of the plutocracy as it loots what little is left of this country and sells the rest off to any country in the world with enough money to buy it.
He's a star and that's all they want. Stars can get elected even when they're obvious doofuses, look at Reagan. Then the plutocracy starts to loot.

11. There isn't much left to loot |

We've always known that the super wealthy want MORE. But there just isn't that much left to loot. They already have most of it.
Perhaps, they too are looking for the number ET used to call home so they can find another planet to impoverish.

like municipal services like water, the interstate highway system, Amtrack (which is profitable in the northeast corridor), municipal airports, harbors, and the list really does go on and on and includes mineral rights to state parks and other things we really, really don't want to see.
