Bill Maher on Michael Vick |

"Now that Michael Vick is injured & can't compete on Sunday's, he should be put down" - Bill Maher
I wouldn't be an Eagles fan right now if they paid me.

11. That's why I appreciate that the justice system is founded in logic, not emotion. |

It's good to know Vick did time--and yet still will be reviled.

17. I agree - but I still like Maher's comment. |
|
It holds Vick up to the ridicule he deserves.

3. Paying his debt to society means he's earned the right to be free from incarceration... |
|
...no other rights are "guaranteed" or "implied." He may be 100% rehabilitated...good for him. The court of public opinion keeps the books open forever.

There is no misfortune too great for that piece of subhuman filth. The day that scum was let back on the field is the day I stopped being a football fan.

6. Bill Maher is a douche |
|
Michael Vick's presence in Philadelphia has shined a light on the problem of pit-bull fighting in the city. Since he got here, calls to the police's anonymous dog fighting tip line have tripled.
I assure you Mike Vick won't be killing any more dogs.
Sadly millions of healthy dogs die painful deaths in shelters every year in this country. So lets not be such hypocrites shall we? What Vick did was wrong, but it is the same thing our country does on a daily basis without fanfare.
And we wouldn't want you to be an Eagles fan if you paid us.

9. Yea, lets not be hypocrites. Shelters don't electrocute, hang, drown etc healthy dogs. |
|
Nor do shelters make dogs fight for entertainment/profit. :eyes:

13. Unless Vick was actually making those calls, he doesn't deserve any credit for them |
|
I really doubt Vick went to Philadelphia as part of an awareness project.
As for Maher, that's far from the most tasteless thing I've heard/read today...

This has to be the most puke worthy post I've read in a while. Oh, certainly, Vick is to be sainted for first torturing and killing and then being forced to attempt to repair his image. Yet, what Maher said makes him the douche? What twisted, twisted logic. I wish I could pity you.

32. I have 2 dogs right now |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 07:05 PM by northernlights
one napping in bed under the blankets, the other on the couch next to me, both of whom were slated to be gased.
How am I a hypocrite? because I don't have the means to rescue a few million dogs? Because I would if I could. The minute I win the lottery, whatever lottery it is (the inheritance lottery, the convenience store lottery, the sugar daddy lottery...any one of them will do) then I will stop every shelter killing I can.
But not being able to stop them is hardly the same as condoning them. I abhor them.
And I abhor even more deliberately inflicting pain, suffering and death for *entertainment.* On the fighting dogs, and on the poor critters who were their training victims.
World of difference.

and as bad of a QB situation we have right now, I'm glad Vick isn't playing for the Panthers.
I'm a big animal lover, and I don't think I could find myself rooting for a dog killer every Sunday.

It's interesting: when the Eagles signed Vick and I said that I wouldn't support the team or its sponsors, a few here called me a liar, and when thing got interesting again, I'd be back on the bandwagon.
Well, it did, I didn't, many of my acquaintances didn't and so there you go.
