The difference between health insurance companies and the Tenessee fire brigade. |

Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 07:04 AM by Donald Ian Rankin
Private fire brigades are not heavily involved in lobbying to prevent the state from providing emergency services.
I am entirely willing to forgive health insurance companies for choosing not to insure certain people, charging exhorbitant prices, etc - they are not charities, they are bookmakers, and they should be free to take or pass up whatever bets they like.
But that, in order to protect their business, they lobby the state to fail in its duty to provide health care to its citizens is, I think, unforgiveable.

2. Nor did the fire brigade take the money for coverage, then ... |
|
... cancel the coverage when the house caught fire.
