Palin introduced as "the next president of the United States" in Bakersfield
(10-09) 21:49 PDT Bakersfield, Calif. (AP) --

Sarah Palin got the loudest reception among an array of Republican stars who assailed President Obama's agenda and marked the revival of the Bakersfield Business Conference.

The former Alaska governor was introduced Saturday as "the next president of the United States" at the all-day celebration of all things GOP that featured appearances by former vice president Dick Cheney, ex-House speaker Newt Gingrich and strategist-turned-pundit Karl Rove.

The conference returned after a five-year hiatus, taking on the air of a festival with tents, thousands of flags and ice cream vendors.

The Bakersfield Californian said as many as 11,000 of the Republican faithful paid $495 to attend the event at Cal State Bakersfield.

4. Does anyone besides me think she just wants another spending spree?

I don't believe for a second she wants to win. I do think she wants to run, just because she's tired of shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue on her own money, and would rather use campaign cash.

She's a grifter, plain and simple.

5. Yeah, she's working to gather all the stupid under one tent for her personal
profit. A true grifter working the opportunity. I never had any idea America was so full of "The Stupid" until over the past 10 years or so.

8. But then, so is the whole 365 24/7 campaign industry.
In a way, she's smarter than they are because she has zero chance of even running for anything and she's making money hand over fist.

they know she'd never get there, but they love taunting. they don't realize it only emboldens the democratic party members - so here's to keeping it up!

11. $495 for admission? No way Jose!
Our local democratic party does a pig roast picnic every summer. $5 gets you in and you get all you can eat and the beer is open tap. I can't understand how republicans can win when all they do is pick the pockets of their supporters. I guess the answer is you just can't fix stupid.
