47. Hmmm, so it doesn't feel good when people minimize your feelings, eh?
That is one sentence you have written that I hope you do some meditating on.

Several of us have been saying that, and it is never heard.

The hardness and coldness and just plain ugliness here has become a cancer. It is sad.

As I said, I hope you do meditate on that. There's a lot to learn in your sentence.

71. Thank you for commenting on my post.
You may, however, have misconstrued my intent. That's OK, though. I'm often misconstrued, sometimes just strued, and occasionally must mised.

I do recognize, of course, that few are in a tighter spot than you, Bobbolink. But we're all in a tight spot, boys.

87. No, we are NOT "all in a tight spot", boys.
If that was true, there would be a lot less hatefulness, and a lot more simple humanity.

You found out what it's like to have your feelings minimized, and I hope you can now understand how it feels to others.

89. My dear bobbolink,
This thread was an attempt at humor, you see. My "feelings" weren't really minimized. Not every thread on DU is a serious one. Since I never even identified what I was concerned about, it should have been clear that I was simply writing a parody of all "concern" threads. I'm sorry you were confused by my thread, but the point would have been lost if I explained that it was a parody.

In many ways, however, we are in a tight spot.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.

31. ah, tsp, thanks again man! here's a funny story for you. acorns. i have a zillion oak trees.
so i end up with a pile of acorns about 3 feet high in the driveway.

time to throw them away.

i had just bought a computer, and put the large, empty box in my my city trash bin. the empty box took up about 2/3 the space. no problem if i just top er off with some of the acorns!

well, after shoveling in the acorns, i go to move the sucker and...

it won't budge

cut to me, shoveling acorns back OUT of the bin, back onto the driveway. fun times.

35. LOL!
Around here, the squirrels would have hauled them all away and stored them somewhere inside my garage, I'm sure. I found about 100 black walnuts yesterday in the bottom drawer of my roll-away tool chest. I left the drawer open about 2", due to a hammer handle that I was too lazy to stuff back in the drawer.

Brownies, anyone?

Happily, there is a public library! I order books and here are the titles of 2 that I am reading now: "Painting In Florence and Siena after the Black Death" and "European Art of the Fourteenth Century." Deeply engaged in the cultural and religious effects of the cult of the Madonna of Humility now, so I hafta get back to it. Too exciting for words...no time for my concerns...

55. What if it is much worse than we think
I am optimistic that if we all work hard and get a good turnout on Election Day that the losses can be contained. But sometimes I wake up at 3am and think what if it is the worst case. I am not sure I even know what the worst case looks like. But I am seeing a lot of Democrats running like they are scared in supposedly safe districts, and I wonder if things could end up much worse than we thought possible. That thought is what keeps working for my local candidates,

Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 07:15 PM by MineralMan
Think about 2012. Consider the children. There is so much about which to be concerned. Elections are just transcendental concerns for the truly concerned. Of course, we're all working on the elections. There's always a chance our concerns won't turn out to be real issues. But, concerned we are, and concerned we shall be.

Hell! Handbaskets! Those are the real concerns, you see...
