Breaking: Americans Don't Know What the F&$k They Want
It's become pretty clear through actually talking with conservatives and libertarians that just about every issue that we deal with and argue about boils down to one thing: the role of government. Whether we need it to save us from corporations run amok, or it should be a last resort only when absolutely necessary... that's the core argument we're having as a country. It explains everything, really.

Except the problem is this: how can we demand that Washington listen to us, when we have no clue what we want when it comes to government? And not only that, but what we're asking them to do is essentially impossible - we can't save entitlements AND cut spending. We can't shrink government AND have it there when we need it.

So where does that leave us? How are we ever going to be happy with our government if what we're saying is that government can't ever live up to our expectations?

1. nonsense. This song explains what Americans want - in general

We have been told all our lives, by Madison avenue, that this is a reasonable request.

And also that we should be able to get it with very little effort.

4. Most Americans are stuck in micro-land
They can only understand a problem when it hits them personally, in the face. They have lost the ability to think long-term/macro/societally.
