Chris Matthews Thinks Jeb Bush Will Run for President in 2012

By Nicole Belle

You know, I'm not sure that Chris Matthews inhabits the same planet that we do. His is so devoid of history, context or consequences that he's a little like the Drew Barrymore's character in 50 First Dates: a completely blank slate, unable to remember anything that's happened.

Tweety is convinced that the reception of George W. Bush's memoirs, scheduled to be published on November 9, 2010, immediately following the midterms, will be so well-received that the nostalgia will help push little brother Jeb into the Republican presidential candidacy in 2012.

First, what's with the assumption that there will be this huge wave of nostalgia for GWB due to his book? I think the safer assumption is that waste of trees will be full of rationalizations, lies and spin for what historians have already assessed as one of the worst presidencies in history of the country. Seriously, does anyone doubt that the financial collapse, the huge unemployment rate, the record number of foreclosures, the spiraling debt, two unwinnable wars and the contempt of the rest of the world should be placed squarely upon the shoulders of George Walker Bush? What exactly are we--the bungled and the botched--to wax nostalgic about?

And secondly, how exactly does one make the rather large leap--other than in the fevered mind of Tweety--from feeling all warm and fuzzy about the Shrub to deciding that we MUST have Jeb as the Republican nominee? Even as Andrea Mitchell titters on how Bar's favorite was considered bettered suited for the presidency than his under-achieving big brother (a fact she conveniently omitted for ten years), no one on the panel can quite see how the publication of GWB's book will launch another Bush into the White House.

5. Can I ask a related question
I saw him on is ABC program this a.m. K-riiist, I don't know what to make of this clown. On his MSNBC show he agrees with Fineman and others that while the House will fall to repukes the Senate will remain with Dems. Then he turns around today and basically says we are in such a bad place that he's pretty sure we will lose the Senate! His guests put loss of Senate at between 18 and 20% likelyhood. This guy is like a different personality every 5 minutes. Today I wanted to spit in his face. In other words, on MSNBC he wants to kiss up to us liberals and on conventional tv, he wants to join the wailing of the "Sky is Falling". F-U Tweety

rethuglicans sticks. If the democrats continue on the present course and some of the mud sticks then the media will do their job and "manufacture consent" among the voting public and we'll have another Bush in the white house. However, I don't think this will happen in '12 but by '16 GWB's administration will have been sanitized and Jebbie will get a full blown endorsement from the press the same as GWB did in 2000.

8. Tweety, IMO, is so frustrated with the Republican Party and the
way it is morphing into something a lot of Moderate
Republicans cannot recognize and the purging that
has been taking place that he jumps at any little
sign of hope that the GOP might regain its senses.

Keep in mind Tweety is from a Republican family
and I am sure even his family members raise their
eyes at some of the recent GOP shenanigans. He is
liberal on some issues.

Furthermore, like a lot of the Pundits, Imo Chris
has let the right left become blurred and sometimes
tend to think Right is left.

A good example. Jeb Bush is much more a rock-ribbed
conservative than GWB ever was. He believes that
Right Wing blather.

Tweety seems to think that because Jeb is nice looking
and has a mild manner of speaking , he must be moderate.
Wrong. These are the Republicans you cannot trust.

I can remember Tweety early praising McDonnel in Va\
calling him a Moderate. Tweety has had to swallow crow
over that one. Not only is McDonnell a rock-ribbed Republican
he is willing to play to man's basest nature.

Tweety is going through some "pains", Methinks.
