It may even better this way, if the GDP was increasing too much the government would have to increase interest rates to slow it down and we would also be in danger of high inflation.

in my region down 3.5% from its peak, I say we are very, very slowly emerging from a deep recession but are still in a recession. I am more optimistic than I was this time last year because regional stores are already advertising for holiday help and announce that they will add more than twice the seasonal employees they did last year. There has also been a big uptick in the number of major corporations sending recruiters to area colleges.
