I got invited to see Kendrick Meet when he comes to St. Petersburg FL October 19th. |
|
Bill Clinton is going to be there.
However, I'm voting for Charlie Crist.
I want to meet Bill Clinton but I don't want to feel like a heel, going to a rally for a candidate I'm not voting for.
What should I do?

Besides being down in the polls, is there anything wrong with Meek? Would he make a good Senator?

4. There is nothing wrong with Kendrick Meek. I like him. |
|
I just don't want Marco Rubio to win and Crist has the only chance to beat him. If independents were voting for Democrats this year Meek would have a chance.

It's about keeping Rubio from winning. Crist would be much better than Rubio and would at least give Democrats 1 vote to keep the majority.

You have no right to be there, if you are not a supporter.

6. Exactly! How about voting for the Democrat instead of the rethug posing as a moderate |
|

because he couldn't win a primary?

16. Floridian Dems are in a very tough situation |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-10-10 10:47 PM by EFerrari
and that's too bad because I really like Meek. He'd be a good Senator. But I'm not getting the idea that state Dems are going to stand with him. So whether we like it or not, it is what it is.
I don't understand the thinking behind this race. Did the DNC figure they weren't going to win in FL no matter what? Did anyone ever mount an effort against Crist? I'm on the other side of the country so I only know what makes the news and what my FL friends tell me.

you'll learn something about Meek you don't know now. Or not. But go meet Bill Clinton if that's what you want to do. People go to those things for all kinds of reasons, including Bill Clinton and Mr. Meek.

12. Why ask us? Last week, I had to decide between my sick son and visiting my terrified, |
|
just diagnosed with cancer sister. My choice wasn't right nor wrong--but I didn't ask complete strangers on the internets for advice. Maybe if I had, it would have been righter.
Or maybe not. Live with your choice--that's what grownups do.

13. That's a tough one. I totally understand how you feel. |

So many of us are torn about what to do here in Florida. I'm on the fence- every day my decision changes. I like Meek- I think he's done a good job in Congress and am certain he will carry out the President's agenda. He is a progressive and does care about the people. There are many Dems however- especially here in South Florida, who are not fans of his or of his family and who are going to vote for Crist for that reason. But not me- he is not my first choice but I would be happy to vote for him. Except for the fact that he cannot win. Even if Crist pulled out- unless we had a landslide turnout of everyone who turned out for Obama- which is clearly not a reality in this election- there's no chance Meek can pull it off. That's the reality.
Crist is a snake. I don't care how much faith people have that he will caucus with the Democrats-- he was and IS a Bush republican. He's an opportunist who changes his agenda and his views with whomever he is needing to impress. On almost every major issue- he has changed his tune at some point or another.
But Rubio is a monster and he's dangerous. We know where his alliances are and how he will vote and he scares the shit out me and out of many of us. Unfortunately, it looks like regardless of who we vote for, Rubio is going to win - probably in a big way.
As for whether you should attend- that's a hard decision. At this point, I think we should all get behind Meek it doesn't matter anyway, frankly and at least we'll all sleep better knowing we supported the Democrat.

22. Go. Listen to him. Keep an eye on the polling. |
|
And then vote however the hell you want and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. We have moved into a very different era with the teabaggers. There is no way as Americans we can sit by and allow that horseshit to blossom. Rubio has been polling as high as 50%. If Meek can't jettison his ass out of third place, I too would throw my vote at Crist strategically. There must never ever be a Senator Teabagger.

even if Feingold doesn't want him to.
